Eccentrics for tendonitis

im experimenting with eccentrics in order to clear up biceps tendonitis. I have dealt with it before bc i have winged scapulas and the tendon gets irritated from time to time. Now im in a situation where it is taking forever to go away now. It was to the point where it was basically gone but it got re-irritated at work from having to do overhead stuff. And yes i avoid all overhead stuff now atleast until i gain better shoulder mechanics. I read an article about a study done with guys that had achilles tendonitis and almost all of the subjects had very good results from the eccentric type of training. My question would be does anyone have any ideas for what exercises to do to target the specific tendon. I tried dumbell curls and im not entirely sure if that hits it enough. Also i read that doing a front deltoid raise hits that tendon too but i dont know how well. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this type of training? The program involves 3 sets of 12-15 reps everyday for 6 to 12 weeks and the affected tendon is only to be trained with the eccentric part of the lift. And absolute rest is not an option nor has that ever really done anything for me nor have nsaids or ice or other typical doctor recommendations. And the fact that my scapulas are the primary cause of the issue makes it worse bc im trying to correct them too and i cant bc of tendonitis and the irritation is caused by impingement so its a continuous cycle.
 
Im getting over tendonitis in both my biceps. I didnt worry so much about eccentrics so much as I worried about using a weight that didnt hurt. If it pissed off my tendonitis id keep dropping till I found a comfortable weight. Enough time with that and its given my elbow the rest it has needed to recover properly without inhibiting growth to much.
 
In a proper rehab program eccentrics are great for tendinitis.

But rehab for scaula winging shouldn't have anything to do with bicep tendinitis. Winging is caused by lack of serratis anterius activation. Serratis anterius is trained by pushing exercises so biceps should effect it.

If your talking about scapula flairing then rows will help. But really if rows are aggravating bicep tendinitis then your doing them wrong.

It really sounds like you need to get the problem checked out by a professional.
 
This shoulder has bothered me on and off for a few years now. Back when it first started i had an mri and the specialist told me it showed that i had tendonitis on the front of my shoulder. Im in college and a few months back i was in a hurry to get to class and i was putting my back pack on and it bugged my should bc of the way i put my arm through the strap and i had like one folder in it so it pretty much weighed nothing. And pretty much all movements bother it. I had people check my form on rows and still it bugged me. I was having a pain free workout with some gymnastics stuff. Nothing hardcore but i was doing frog stands and tucked front levers and it seemed to be fine and it was an intense workout but then again thats all isometric stuff. After i did that i did some straight arm pull downs starting from shoulder level and it started to get aggrivated. Now its been a few weeks since my last workout and its still bothering me
 
And i would like to add that i understand that the biceps tendon isnt involved with the scapula. But what im saying is that there could be impingement occuring from the winging bc of the tendon getting rubbed. And problems do occur in both shoulders especially with overhead stuff. And the scapulas are in fact winging. They have been assessed multiple times. My main goal is to correct the winging. And now that i think of it there were a couple times it felt odd in my shoulder in that spot when i was doing shoulder protractions to hit the serratus on the cable machine but it could have been from improper form. Im trying to fix my scapulas but this spot on my shoulder is inhibiting that so this is where im at.

I tried the eccentric stuff. Did the palms up shoulder flexion at shoulder height. I think it was a bad idea. Over night it felt more irritated. Maybe just not exercising that arm for a while is the best option. Thanks for answering my question and thanks for the input guys
 
You might should probably get some soft tissue therapy from someone who knows what they are doing. Your probably doing to much. Eccentrics are used at the end of a tendinitis program and then they are only done twice a week. If your doing them daily you will just create more problems especially if your not use to the point where eccentrics should be used.
 
Ok i'll try to find someone. Also in this shoulder i do have a partial ac seperation. The specialist told me it shouldnt give me any problems. But at this point i wouldnt rule anything out. But yeah i guess seeing a professional is my only option at this point
