so i heard somewhere that herbal teas can break fasting, i have been having flavoured black coffee 20m before my workouts but after a while it gets pretty boring and less enjoyable.
i decided to have a plain Pukka vanilla chai tea without milk or sugar today and just wondering if this indeed does break a fast?
thank u xxx

If there are no calories in it then I would assume it's not breaking your fast

Coffee black is between 1 and 5 calories. Chai tea should not be to far from that. I think you would be ok.

I’ve heard just the chemicals from something with no calories technically breaks your fast . But who know I would tend to agree with anything with no calories is good to go.

"technicality wise" - yes anything chemically would break a "fast". but doesnt water also break a fast???.
but ginger, cardamom, turmeric, etc would put an individual "deeper" into a fast. meaning would speed up how fast you get into autophagy. for example, ginger / shagoals actually activate Brown adi tissue, so does turmeric which would further enhance fat burning negating any minuscule calories in ginger is.. ginger also helps to secrete bile acids which is antimicrobial to GI tract - thus speeding up GI healing / detox - would also require the individual to drink more water to further excrete biofilms, reabsorbed dead tissue in gut lining. depends also what is the purpose of fasting? miniscule autophagy/life extension benefits or fat burning / lowered insulin??

coffee is an excellent thermogenic, one of the best drinks for man as it can increase CAMP and increase androgen receptor density in fasted state. Minimal calories in chai, coffee in my opinion are negligible.
