Anyone know a good place online to find relevant and impactful Bible devotionals geared towards men?

I'm trying to get back on track.

This is my Church. Great Pastor. There are a lot of good Podcasts too.

You've made a wise choice!

First off, whenever we take inventory and decide to change priorities - it takes guts. Congrats on taking that step.

Here is what I do (1) I try to read scripture at night, even if only for a few minutes, (2) I try read books based on a Godly perspective, (3) surround myself with guys having similar objectives, and (4) listen to Christian radio programs via the internet. There are "a million" radio programs; some may not be your style, others may work well.

My biggest struggle is realizing that everything I try to control isn't mine to control - it is God's to control. At the same time, God allows all of us free will - enabling people to do some pretty lousy things - and that is when the "control" thing kicks in (at least for me).

Congrats, and kudos for asking for input in this type of forum format.

yah, much thanks for this thread here. Im subbed so i can check things out later, i g2g going....

Ive been wanting to really turn my life around and serve and worship God more but I just havent been strong enough to do so, just distracted by other things around me.

We have 2 great christian rock/alternative radio stations here now, one of which is AirOne and can be found online and broadcasts across the US. Its so good to listen when im driving by myself. Its kind of like a break from the hectic and my time with God so to speak.

I would be willing to be a support network (I'm guessing others might as well), but, despite my best intentions (1) I am no expert - far from it - just an average dude, and (2) I need to remind you that "free" stuff is worth exactly what the recipient pays for it. BTW - none of us are "strong enough", that is why we have to rely on God's strength.

Please feel free to PM, if you would like to.

Just checking in to see how everyone is coming along with this.

Im moving forward, better than I was, but not where I need to be.

You might just want to dedicate 20 or 30 minutes/day to read the Bible. You might want to start with one of the Gospels, then Acts, then Romans, then .....

It really does make a difference.

Easy way to start is to read Proverbs. There are 31 chapters, and never more than 31 days in a month; so 1 chapter a day. I would also recommend getting a translation that's easy to understand. NLT or NASB are good choices. A good daily devotional is My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.

I love my NIV student bible. It's very easy to follow and has excerpts describing other (non-biblical) events that were taking place during biblical times, and ties in different people/places in the bible together... kinda like putting pieces of a puzzle together. It also came w/ a *guide* to help you read the entire bible. It gives a more intuitive sequence than just going from cover to cover.

Hey fellas, I'm on vacation right now, but I send out a Daily Bible Verse - 1 Proverb, 1 Psalms, and 1 from the NT everyday. I also send out a Daily Quote. If you are interested, post or pm me your email.

Thats awesome bro...you CAN do it...I promise. Just let go of trying to do it all on your own and get to a place where you rely on His grace, and TRUST that it is there when you need it. Bc it will be.

25:1 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of the virgins were foolish, and five were wise. 3 When the foolish ones took their lamps, they did not take extra olive oil with them. 4 But the wise ones took flasks of olive oil with their lamps. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed a long time, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is here! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ 9 ‘No,’ they replied. ‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 But while they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Then the door was shut.
