CLA: Myth or Reality

Woody

Well-known member
A while back when I first looked into CLA, the general consensus was it was a waste of money. However, more and more often I see it being recommended in cutting or recomp stacks.

Does CLA work? And what's the recommended dosage and dosage time

cliffs of research that ive seen
-doesnt do anything
-did something minor for some, but varied a lot, therefor results were inconclusive essentially.

I never felt like it did anything for me at all. Tried it on a few seperate occasions several years ago with no benefits observed so I saved my money after my experiences.

It's kind of like a multi in my opinion. I don't really feel anything different if I don't have a multi but its kind of like the cherry on top. Your not going to notice a whole lot if you don't have it but its a good addition if it fits your budget.

What dosage is a good edition?

I took it for around a year straight. That was when PP had it in bulk at a great price. Seemed to help keep strength while dieting. Wouldn't purchase it today though, way too expensive.

This is about the net sum of it.

I have read some research that indicates long term use (3 months+) is more effective due to it making only a very subtle difference in fat loss. Even so, I've used it when I got a free bottle, but likely won't be purchasing any in the future.

I can get 180 capsules of 1000 mg for relatively cheap, but if it's a useless or nearly useless supp then I can spend that money on something else.

Lately I've seen more support for it, but perhaps I was wrong.

I've always been curious about its potential as a mild AI. Breast cancer research seems to indicate this. Additionally, there was an older study done with obese children that indicated, in addition to fat lose a slight decrease in bone mass as compared to control. In light of CLAs possible AI properties, this result seems less unexpected.

Granted, there are stronger AI options available but I still wonder if CLA has a place in the tool kit...

does it help? yes
is it over hyped? yes
is it worth using if your not a millionaire? NO.. IMO

id rec over it:
2-4g taurine ed
cretine
multiv
b12
vit d3
zma
protein powder
food
games
clothing
electronics
herbs
plants
and some where down ea the bottom (but above unhealthy things)... CLA...

Fair critique. And I agree that this applies to the two commercially available sources ("Clarinol" and "Tonalin") I just wonder if further research will elucidate that different isomers or combination of isomers have a roll in breast cancer prevention and, by proxy athletic performance...

But yes, everyone's answer to Woody's question is correct. Your resources are better spent elsewhere.
