There are several factors, and I'm sure cocaine was big one for more than a few guys. And I'm sure they [abused] not just used steroids. But look at this list. Some of these guys were so young. Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect) was a fairly recent death from heart failure but coke was found in his system.

It's a damn shame.

it is a shame...

if i were going to look for a steroid induced death epidemic, I would look to bodybuilders of old b/c you're less likely to find them doing "other" things that are bad for their health.

They would give a better idea as to what "steroids" alone will do to you in the long term at abusage dosages.

Totally agree, Bodybuilders are most likily to get bloodwork as well. WWF Wreastling - crazy sport for generally crazy people.
 
the lifestyle they lead is incredibly unhealthy .. they are on the road for months at a time constantly traveling and i have a feeling that drug/alcohol abuse is VERY high

with that said i can't believe yokozuna died of a heart attack! that guy was the epitomy of physical conditioning! :rolleyes:

True post, but you noticed that Yokozuna was quite agile and fast for a 600lb human.. ;)

Not to mention, he was really Samoan.. Rikishi was his younger brother, which makes him The Rock's cuz..

always used to watch growing up til about 8th grade. I don't like the new school stuff, when Shawn Michaels became champion I basically stopped watching altogether
 
I can't remember his name, but there was another wrestler who recently passed away, not sure how. The WWE paid tribute to him on Monday Night Raw recently. There's a short story/bio on WWE's website.

I can imagine several things going on in WWF atheletic life.

1. They probably stay on almost all the time to maintain a show-worthy body, keep their mass and recover after shows.

2. They are doing some pretty extreme cardio for being such huge people.

3. Many are eating terribly but use AAS to help out..see reason 1.

4. To perform extreme cardio choreography they're probably getting amped up..coke, ECA, speed..whatever.

Add to that that extremely large framed people tend to have short life spans anyways and viola, dead wrestler federation.

I met Hillbilly Jim a long time ago. Biggest human being I've ever shaken hands with. Unbelievable girth on his hands and forearms. A very nice gentleman though.
