I used intimidate last summer when I was cutting and it worked nicely. The only thing that was negative was my libido seemed to drop. Though this could have been from being low carb most of the week. I have also used DAA and it too worked great. But how old are you OP? You don't need any of this...
Not advised, my friend. Their physiques will respond much better without it as far hypertrophy and strength go. I personally never wear a belt (or staps, wraps etc), even when I get down to a 2RM. These individuals that wear a belt all the time are either doing it because they are misinformed or...
5/3/1 is ok. If you've only got a year of training, I suggest any of mark rippetoes 5x5 templates. When you stall a couple times in those then you can implement something craftier
In a similar situation. I've been a natural bodybuilder my whole life but I've recently got into strength. I still approach training with the tactics of a bodybuilder i.e. closer stance deep squats, flared elbows on the bench. I've always liked the training videos of lee priest, and I've always...
I got it. The template that jumped out at me the most was his advanced 5/3/1 template. I'm not a fan of the concept of the AMRAP set, and his advanced version does not include this. Hitting all 4 of the big lifts twice a week is something I can agree with. Some high rep assistance and done. I...
Just from what I've heard and the little samples I've seen, it promises to be one heck of a book loaded w templates. I'm huge when it comes to templates, so I'm sure I will find some to my liking. Btw, I have been checking your log the whole time. Excellent progress bro
Yes, 12 reps is high for a strength based template. This was an issue I had with 5/3/1 when I tried it awhile back. That and I don't like going into a workout not having a pre designated goal for the day. Those AMRAP sets have little direction, and people may get caught up cranking out max reps...
Someone posted a sample template of the new 5/3/1 Joker template. Looks tough. After the AMRAP set you can work up to a suitable 5 RM, and then a 1 Rm for that day, followed by 3 sets of your first working set x8 reps. Im going to buy it. See what else hes got in there
Agreed. I hardly ever do a leg press, but if I do, I keep the rep range 15-20 reps nice n slow. That exercise is not meant to pile on the weight, as it ends up destroying your ROM otherwise. Go heavy on squats :)
Squats and stiff leg deads sound like plenty to me. That's more or less what I do. Personally, I like to throw in extensions w TUT as I feel like they shape my quad nicely. I also like to run a few miles for my calves, as raises do very little compared to good ol fashion jogging
Yeah. Thought about something like that. I would like something with more heavy sets though. I heard he has a new 5/3/1 with more volume in the heavy sets. Have you seen it yet?
After spending a long time being obsessed with being lean and bodybuilding, I became tired of counting cals, macros, blahblah. I also became tired of being so damn weak. So I followed an Ed Coan periodization plan twice over the last 7 mos and the results were as follow:
Bodyweight: 165 - 201...
Practical Programming by Mark Rippetoe. Excellent beginner full body barbell workouts in that book. Wish I knew about this book when I was a beginner as I ended up wasting years of training on BS "bodybuilding" workouts
Aspartame partially breaks down into formic acid, which is the poison found in fire ants (no joke). This may be one of the reasons the OP and many others react bad to it. In all seriousness, you cannot compare it to steaks and apples. One is food, the other is a chemical
