How to avoid over-training when it's basically inevitable?

I'm eating plenty, I think. I had been trying to do intermittent fasting, but multiple workouts per day make that next to impossible some days. What are adaptagens?

Rock's Quest For a Black Belt

I just had an awesome workout this morning, despite the heat and secada attacks. I did a circuit of: 20 -50# clean & press (10/arm) down the stairs carrying 80# heavy bag 10 -36" box jumps back up the stairs with bag 20 -sledge hammer smashes 5 -tractor tire flips down and up the stairs again...

Rock's Quest For a Black Belt

Had a good workout this morning with two of the guys who are testing for the next stripe on their black belt this summer along with me. I decided to make a competition out of it and go for "points." Total time was 40 min. and this was the sequence: 10 -36" box jumps (the other guys were a bit...

How to avoid over-training when it's basically inevitable?

First off, a little preface: Aside from the normal reasons to stay fit, I'm testing for black belt at the end of July and need to be in top condition at that time. I've made a reputation for myself in class and set the bar high regarding conditioning. Since finding out I was testing a few...

Small 18 year old needs some direction

I could be wrong, but I got the impression this guy only mentioned steroids half-sarcastically, so I'll just answer his actual question... Obviously, follow the advice given about diet. That's going to be a big part of it. Aside from that, heres a really simple workout plan for you. M/W/F...

    Ultimate Nutrition's IsoMass..anyone used?

Lots of creatine, lots of calories. I'd only use it post-workout because the carbs are basically sugar, but otherwise, it's solid. I always think making your own is preferable though.

Rock's Quest For a Black Belt

I did the "300" again today. 16:30 total time. Last time, I thought each side on the floor wipers was one rep. This time I counted both sides together as one rep and made sure I touched the floor between each clean & press. I'm happy, considering I almost matched my previous time and I did...

Rock's Quest For a Black Belt

Did some pulling stuff today. I bought 45 and 50 lb. dumbbells last week, because my reps have gotten super high with 40's and I hate using the ones I have to assemble and disassemble between sets, but anyway...where was I? Oh, I bought new dumbbells and I'm glad I did. They were put to good use...

That depends a lot on how much you *want* to eat.

Rock's Quest For a Black Belt

Last night at black belt review, I was kicked HARD in the left leg about ten times during a sparring session with the 4th degree blackbelt, former title holding kickboxer who runs the school. Then, about 10 minutes later, while standing our listening to him lecture the class, my hypoglycemia...

Rock's Quest For a Black Belt

Workouts have been great for me, but I've been slack in posting. I've been doing low rep strength stuff about twice a week, conditioning 2-3 times/week, involving heavy cardio with resistance like carrying things up and down stairs, sledgehammer, jumping, flipping my tractor tire, etc. and...

I can't speak for injectibles or anything like that, but with PH's, I'd probably do a pulse.

Lots of religions encourage occasional fasting, not just Mormons. People have this strange idea that changes to your body/metabolism are made in incredibly short time periods and it's just not true. Long term habits change your body for good or bad.

    Goin on a cruise and...

I don't know how far off the cruise is, but diet and exercise are the key. Supplements make up a very small piece of the puzzle. As much as it sucks to hear, you probably should've started making more of an effort before now rather than looking for a product to do the job for you because it...

The Lean Gains / IF learning and Discussion Log

Your body DOES adjust to training fasted. Most of it is mental. It just takes a little time. I just burnt 775 calories flipping a tractor tire, doing box jumps, swinging my sledge hammer and all kinds of other crap for 35 minutes this morning and now I'm enjoying some delicious nonfat sherbet...

Just finished my sprints this morning and I'm enjoying a delicious shake of coconut milk, oats, vanilla whey, and banana totaling around 1200 calories.

The Lean Gains / IF learning and Discussion Log

I shorten mine all the time. Some days, there's just no other option because I'm too busy or on rare occasions, I'll hit my calorie goal before my time is up, so I just stop then.

The Lean Gains / IF learning and Discussion Log

That's kind of what I've been thinking as well. The annoying thing is that my "rest" days have me so busy and away from the house that to get in more calories, I have to forget about the quality.
