Training lagging body parts while on testosterone cypionate cycle

Your definition of heavy is important, but I squat at >80% twice per week and my legs are coming up and I'm not feeling fatigued. Every other week or so I throw in some high volume on the squat, 4 sets of 20 or so, and I think that has played an important role in my improved development...

What's Your Opinion For Using Hang Cleans for traps?

I like hang cleans for traps. I usually do what you're considering when it comes to rep ranges. Usually 3x3-6. They're good for the traps, but also the external rotators, which I think most people don't target enough. Ozzie mentioned snatch grip deads and they're a favorite of mine when it...

    Squat technique

I don't think anyone mentioned how great the squat is for the entire body. It'll strengthen your core, keeping tight activates many muscles outside of the legs and you're getting better muscle activation due to the unstable nature of free weights and the stabilization it takes to keep everything...

Ice bath benifical after leg routins

I can't endorse ice baths, I've found that foam rolling works wonders for DOMS following leg days. Roll around on your quads, glutes and hammies for about 10 minutes after your routine and see if that works for you. If you have access to a foam roller, that is.

Pre-Bulk Critiques (Pics from last show)

Anabolics are amazing when used in conjunction with proper training and diet. I have little doubt that I'll come in to this summer's show 30 lbs heavier than last year. I'd say I'm only about 8 weeks of hard dieting away from contest shape and I'm pretty sure I'd be at least 15 - 20 lbs heavier...

    Some little help,please.

I've been there, man. The first and absolutely most important thing that you need to realize is that nutrition is 100% of this game. You can't out train a poor diet, and most guys at 17 either know nothing about the fundamentals of good nutrition or they simply can't afford to do it right so...

    shoulder Issue and My Posture

I'm with Jay. I had some ART done on my shoulder and upper back for something similar to OP's issue and it was not pleasant. It was, however, very effective and worth the cost of the 4 sessions it took to remedy it. I highly recommend ART if you can find a practitioner in your area.

    Douchebags at the gym...

Heard some guy in the gym last night giving everyone advice. Most of it was crap, but he was telling people he was a personal trainer and talking about absurd gains. I laughed out loud at the guy when he said this to my buddy, "Yeah, windshield wipers are great for your core, especially if...

    Thoughts on my workout?

I'd say you should add in some more hamstring work or at least replace the leg curl with something a little more beneficial. Maybe Good Mornings or some stiff leg deads. Also, some direct work for the upper back/rear delts would be nice. Looks fairly solid though. Enjoy.

Pre-Bulk Critiques (Pics from last show)

Should've said lean bulk. I'm sitting at about 205 now (I competed at 185) and I'd put my bodyfat at about 9-11%. Looking to compete again in August and the goal is to be about 210-215 on stage - heavier if it doesn't sacrifice conditioning. I'll try and get some current pics up within the next...

Overtraining, autoregulation, and your sex life - the write up.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. You mention that HRV can be influenced by emotional stress. I've always been interested in the mental side of strength training, and I was wondering how long an emotionally stressful event/time influences things like HRV, RHR, cortisol levels...etc compared to...

Just got back from Emergency room for lower back pain

I'm with Ozzie here. Don't try and overly stretch those spine muscles. I've heard many coaches talk about a stiff spine being a strong one, and anecdotally I've noticed that if I do a ton of stretching of the lower back after squatting or DL'ing, almost always the following squat/DL workout has...

    Texas method help

Do you mean that power cleans should be a primary exercise? I've always used them as an accessory lift for shoulder pre-hab and never went heavy (6-8 reps usually), so my question is, do you advocate going heavy and periodizing gains?

    lower back exercises

Monster Walks: Invalid Link Removed It's good you noticed you're putting too much weight on your toes. Keep that weight on the heel and outer portion of the foot, not the front. If you run a quick Youtube search there are some great videos by Dave Tate and Louie Simmons on improving the...

    lower back exercises

I've found it helpful on squats to actively contract the muscles of the lower back just before and after I've unracked the weight. Keeping it tight and focusing on the activation down there goes a long ways (for me) when it comes to noticing when form starts to break down and dangerous rounding...
