16 Weeks to APF TX Challenge

I'm having a lot of the same issues right now. I've neglected some mobility and smr and when that's combined w a new desk job you get pain. I've got a painfully tight R hip flexor and I've been getting ridiculous back pain which I would imagine is exacerbated by my APT. Good luck getting back on...

    Mass gaining program?

But, to counter, the few oly lifters I trained along side did a far more comprehensive warm up and general daily movements drills which covered a lot of that (they also did more than 3 exercises but that's not the basis of the debate). Foam rolling, shoulder dislocation, band work, etc. Granted...

    Mass gaining program?

Find a good program such.as the 5x5 variations or maybe 5/3/1 w big but boring accessories and eat. Mass will be dictated by diet

    Thoughts on Leg Extensions

There was a recent thread on here about the detriments of both leg curls and.extensions. I'd give that a read

Flat Barbell Bench Press Is It Mostly Just Ego?

Ah man. I feel like I was just trapped into advocating the smith machine! What kind of shoulder issues are you dealing with because I can't say I am a proponent of the unnatural movement patterns that the smith machine forces

    What to add to water...

I'll look into it later but I'm hard pressed to believe luecine is more insulinogenic than fats. Bumped for later

    What to add to water...

Most IF proponents don't count bcaas as breaking fast. Any reading on how insulinogenic they are? I'd look but I'm on my phone at the moment and it is an interesting topic. I can't imagine it having a profound effect but, admittedly, I don't know

How many hours of sleep do you get?

I make sure I'm in bed around the 9 hour mark so I'd say usually 7-8.5 hours. I also take melatonin which I've found helps me fall asleep quicker. I'm still pretty bad about tv or the computer around bed time though so quality varies I suppose.

Flat Barbell Bench Press Is It Mostly Just Ego?

In terms of hypertrophy, I would imagine DBs would be a better option. Beacause of the fixed grip with a BB, I would assume there's a greater amount of horizontal flexion allowed with DBs. That's still not to say that a BB Bench is simply an ego lift what so ever and, as stated 100x, when done...

    sore legs

An increase in activity that drastic is going to cause DOMS. It should get better and less dramatic with time but you could try contrast showers/treatment, foam rolling or some light activity, say walking instead of running. I'm not sure there's really a definitive answer for relieving it but...

    Peanut Butter

That's asinine. You need adequate amounts of fat and cholesterol in your diet for, among other things, hormone production. You know, testosterone (again, among others). Stop spewing this nonsense. Excess calories in the form of fat, carb or protein will cause fat accumulation, not fat alone.

    Needing FATS

I've read similar things and while I have PB in the fridge right now, I also prefer Almond Butter for taste in addition to the things you listed which i'll probably need to do some more reading on. I actually get a brand that has flax seeds in it, as well. Appreciate the input

    Needing FATS

Yeah I didn't know that but that's fair. The gist of my point remains though

    Needing FATS

Yeah i'm not sure I'd ever recommend any type of hydrogenated oil but nut butters? All day and tomorrow. Love me some peanut butter and almond butter. Further, I would assume most here are recommending the "natural" nut butters without added sugars and what not

    Dealing with deload week.

This is how I approach it. New movement patterns will stimulate the CNS to a greater degree simply bc, again, it's a new pattern. Provided, I don't think it will be anything severe if the load and volume is tempered as it should be but I, personally, still avoid incorporating new exercises...

    Snatch!!!!!

Yeah it was something I was pretty proud of but unfortunately my venue changed and now even heavy O/H squats have fallen off simply bc I don't feel comfortable ditching metal plates on the floor where I currently train. Anyone with respectable olympic lift numbers and sound form gets automatic...

    Snatch!!!!!

I rarely do them anymore as I'm no longer in a weightroom with platforms but my PR is 221 at BW of 174. Can't imagine I'd sniff that currently

    Exercises for bad posture

As has been stated, is the poor posture stemming from your shoulders/upper back/neck, your pelvis/lumbar spine, somewhere else?

Leg extensions and leg curls are bad for the knees.

There have been quite a few knee flexion exercises listed in this thread (maybe even a video? don't feel like going to check mid response) and the GHR is a favorite of mine, although not accessible for all.

Flat Barbell Bench Press Is It Mostly Just Ego?

The bench press is still an effective exercise for developing the chest, anterior deltas and triceps. Is it right for everyone? Not those with shoulder issues, no.
