  1. HJH's Full Body Training Plan w/ RPE Based Autoregulation

Awesome! I always enjoy your advice and input.
  2. HJH's Full Body Training Plan w/ RPE Based Autoregulation

To those that aren't familiar with some of the terms: RPE= Rate of Perceived Exertion. I will be using RPE on a scale of 1-10, although all of my work will most likely be around 8-10. 8 = 2 reps left in the tank 9 = 1 rep left in the tank 10 = 0 reps left in the tank Therefore, 2X@8 means to...
  3. HJH's Full Body Training Plan w/ RPE Based Autoregulation

I have until the end of the year to compete one last time as a Junior, so I am going to set some lofty goals. I would rather aim just out of reach and come just within grasp over being too conservative. Goals: 550/425/700 @198 w/o wraps I am choosing to do without wraps just for simplicity's...
  4. HJH's Full Body Training Plan w/ RPE Based Autoregulation

As of right now, this is my current plan, although it is subject to change. Looking at it, we have a four day a week, full body routine, with two strength based days and two hypertrophy days. The competition lifts and variants that I need to improve upon were of utmost importance when I decided...
  5. Sweetlou's training log

Thanks guys! Looks like Lou is set to have a big day!
  6. Sweetlou's training log

I went 8/9, (570, 355, 630) @198. Squat suffered because of the cut and there were only 8 lifters in my group. I would practically have to be wrapped for the lift after finishing the previous one. Took it easy on bench and close gripped it. Lou just went 3/3 on squats, smoking 600 @220.
  7. Sweetlou's training log

Lou forgot to mention how easy 545 was. If he maintains that same force production, 575+ is going down.
  8. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Steve Goggins isn't the oldest, but I think he is in his early 50s and still competes at a high level. He was the first person to ever squat over 1100 pounds.
  9. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

    That's very impressive.

  11. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Thanks! I think I can actually do that IF I hit 198, and that's a big if. 220 on the dot right now.
  12. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

I wonder if Green was truly natty when he competed in the USAPL in 2009 and 2010. It's possible.
  13. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Hmm, top 198 with wraps totals would be interesting to see. It's something I can try to crack into this upcoming meet.
  14. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Wish I had access to powerliftingwatch. I'm too cheap. Very cool!
  15. TGR's Modified PowerBuilding v2.0

I am sorry this happened to you. I had a bad experience at a YMCA with chalk that ultimately led to me having my membership revoked. I would use chalk and had an agreement with the staff that it was okay so long as I would clean up after, which I always did. One day, I showed up and there was...
  16. Liftandswim's Log

I watched it many times and I didn't see anything worth nitpicking over. You are a very good squatter, undoubtedly better than me, and I think you have an impressive ceiling with your knowledge, form and build. Keep it up!
  17. Liftandswim's Log

Nice benching! Yes, let's see it!
  18. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

I'm not a big bencher, so take this with a grain of salt, but here is what I think makes a big bench 1. Benching (specificity) 2. Increasing power production (chains, bands, CAT, dead presses) 3. Hypertrophy/improved leverages (volume benching, high rep dbs) 4. Shoulder Health (stretching...
  19. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

I'm also not a big fan of board presses for most people because they are neglecting the area where almost all benchers fall apart. At OBB, we have a crew of 5-6 guys, my age, who all heavily rely upon board presses. None of them bench over 325@220. Every single one has issues with falling apart...
  20. Sean's Powerlifting Journey

I think board benching can be useful for a raw bencher, but I feel it's limited and there are better options out there. The way I see it, board presses would be good for overload before a meet and/or as top end tricep work. The issue is, that I believe something like a slingshot or reverse bands...
