Anyone here of the belief there's only so much muscle one can naturally hold onto regardless of how it is distributed throughout the body? You can have huge legs at the expense of some upper body size and vice versa.
Not all my hobbies are synergistic. I sometimes travel to and hike remote places in my holidays. A 2 week trek through the NSW rainforest was my latest adventure. Rationed food and 60 miles of bush bashing through a rainforest which made the jungle in Predator look like a golf course turned my...
Well said. I feel it's more difficult to maintain leg strength in my 30's than 20's. Back then I would often take extended breaks and come back after 6 weeks without losing any strength. Seems these days after 3 weeks off I lose 30-50lbs in a hurry. I do recall a study suggesting leg strength is...
Squats. Not half assed parallel squats but full olympic squats. Aim to squat 2x BW (olympic) or 2.5x BW to depth. Training movement efficiency will help but if you're weaker than a kitten your best bet is to get strong first. If you want to bring up your squat fast and boost your vert cut back...
This, and focus on isolating the tri's and bi's. The weight you're moving suggest you're not truly isolating your arms. Given your larger muscle groups are much more powerful I suggest spend time on isolation exercises training with higher volume, lower loads and training for the pump. A high...
Comes down to training frequency. Once a week and I can't squat to take a dump. Twice a week leg training sees a little soreness but it's negligible. If I train legs EOD or ED running intense programs such as Smolov I don't get sore at all.
Yes that's what I go for. I never bothered looking into the biomechanics. In general the exercises that give the best pumps put on the most size and strength in my case.
I don't get much out of close grip bench or dips for tricep development. Skull crushers have by far put the most meat on my tri's. OH tricep extensions are a close second.
This is true for me also. I certainly didn't strive for a physique like the early Mr America winners when I first started training. I now think these guys had the best of everything. Strength, the illusion of size due an emphasis on aesthetics, a healthy body fat level and excellent physical...
In regards to training frequency also consider the more you practice something the better you get at it. I find I maintain a stronger mind/muscle connection when training muscles multiple times a week. Let's say you squat every single day. After a few weeks you'll be amazed how much better...
