I still know some people in the tri state area (NY NJ CT) and I have no problem competing when I am ready. I just had a kid 10 weeks ago, so I am a little short on time. If I can get something in 2014 I will be happy.
Honestly I don't have any idea. I have some goals I want to hit like a 500 raw bench and a 700 geared pull, but I don't know at what point I will get back on the platform. As long as I keep going I will at some point. Also the guys I used to train with are out of the sport.
You are a posterior dominant squatter, and when you took the flat shoes off you are not automatically recruiting the same muscles as you were. There is a reason why wide stance squatters wear chucks and OLY squatters wear shoes with a hard heel. I don't even have to watch the videos to tell...
I would have to try to bench with the elbows more flared at this point. My body is trained to stay well tucked, if I were training for pec hypertrophy flat bench would probably not be on the agenda. I kind of agree with your arch comment as I don't arch or try to much raw. I set up the same...
Moderate stance Goodmornings worked up to 325x5
Reverse Hypers multiple sets, multiple weights up to 6 plates for 10
Close stance stiff leg Gm's 3x8 105 worked them down tight until my hamstring were really stretched.
Have a strange sore muscle in my lower back on the side where my hip...
There is more than bodybuilding. Strongman, Powerlifting, and even crossfit has competitions I believe. I got into powerlifting years ago because I needed something to work towards.
flat bench 325x3 all comp paused
CAT bench 295 4x3 (as explosive as possible, last set was real good)
Dead Bench 300 5 singles 90 second rest each (bottom up pin presses from about the chest)
Tried to do 185 for 12 with where you press every five seconds and keep it on your chest the rest...
Buy Bryants ebook at elitefts.com. It is a good read, and I structured my bench training off of it right now. It is more volume than I am used to. I will have one of the workout posted tonight in my log. That is a really good dead bye the way. is there a reason you only do close grips.
I trained and strong and shapely in Nj for many years. Lots of bodybuilding competitors, they may not have squatted heavy and deadlifted at that point in their careers, but most did at some point when they were putting the size on. Was friendly with one of the national level amateurs and we...
I have never heard of anyone damaging their back and I have trained with 3 800 benchers. Not saying it cannot happen though. My back was definitely sore when I started arching. Now I am benching raw I don't arch as much and keep my feet flat on the floor.
A little about myself, I am just getting back into lifting the last few months after basically a two year layoff and a year of jerking around before that. I had posted on the message boards for more than a decade prior to that. I figured a new name would give me a fresh start. I used to...
