    Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Ah that's horrible I would have lost it. I did the APF Spring Iron Frenzy in April and not only did the meet run 15 hours, my last deadlift attempt was at 1225 am and I was the 3rd flight out of 4, but they mis loaded a raw SHW 700+ squat attempt and also forgot to tighten down the clips on one...

550 squat in just wraps is legit! There is a few multi ply guys at the gym I'm training at I don't know how they do it. It's definitely a skill you'll nail the groove down and smoke some. Where is the meet in sept? The meets in Merrick on Long Island at crossfit strong island. 220 class, I...

Killn' The Cube: My powerlifting venture begins

Lateral band walks, 45degree back ext, courtesy lunges, sumo deads/stiff legs, GHRs, etc. bring up the whole posterior chain. Also throw in some isometrics and pelvic manipulations (anterior/posterior tilting) to increase your proprioception and ability to fire your musculature to "get tight"...

Killn' The Cube: My powerlifting venture begins

What's up man just checked out your log some nice weight there one thing I would say though is focus on locking in that lumbar and moving from the hip. In your pull it looks like your weak/hinge point is L2 area we want it all on those hips. work on expanding your air 360 and tightening down...

    Cardio-too far?(Heart Rate question)

I would just add the caveat, that only when in isolation. In a isolated incidence where the arrhythmia would be considered benign the chances of knowing the episode was in fact ectopic would be slim to none. When the condition becomes apparent enough to seek medical opinion and/or receive a...

    Cardio-too far?(Heart Rate question)

PVC stands for pre-MATURE ventricular contraction.

    Cardio-too far?(Heart Rate question)

PVC is a pretty serious suggestion considering the situation the OP described. Thats a pretty large diagnostic jump and may cause unnecessary panic. First off, my question would be how old are you in order to decipher your age predicted HR max, not always conclusive but will objectify. Then can...

Leg extensions and leg curls are bad for the knees.

No problem... You having years of experience with professional sports teams and us not knowing anything figured you'd be able to find the answer.

Think critically on it the answers are there just not in neon lights.

Leg extensions and leg curls are bad for the knees.

What professional sports teams are you working with? My assumption is that they would understand the flawed arthrokinematics, I have discussed, associated with fixing the femur and distally loading especially with respect to sports performance.

Beat me to it. He was asking for it with the statement saying we have no idea what were talking about.

Leg extensions and leg curls are bad for the knees.

As was stated the arthrokinematics associated with a distally loaded knee and fixed femur are less than ideal. There are much better ways to train with a focus of joint integrity, which is where you are basing your opinion. Also, Stating the primary movement of the legs as a curl motion is very...

Leg extensions and leg curls are bad for the knees.

The distal loading on the knee is the reason for its detriment. When the femur is fixed and the tibia mobile the arthrokinematics at the knee are less than ideal. Ideally the femoral condyles roll and slide on the menisci superior to the tibial condyles. In addition there is a small degree of...

    Left shoulder pain

GH Horizontal extension to horizontal flexion is very different from GH extension and flexion. You do one HF exercise you do 2 HE exercises. It doesn't need to be in a day but over the week your joint action should be balanced or in favor of a predetermined ratio such as 2:1 that I have been...

    Left shoulder pain

I would classify it as bad pressing form. It may have a name but the cost/reward is enough to warrant it being dismissed as a viable variation. If it doesn't cause problems great but in your case it has and for that reason should be thrown out. The 1 and 2 is a ratio.

    Left shoulder pain

Benching with flared elbows and as high as you've described will jam the head of your humerus and all supporting structures between (there's a lot) into the acromion causing the inflammatory based symptoms of which you are describing. You don't need to go fully close grip just touch lower and...
