So I’m new here I use to lift a lot from the time I was 13 till around 28 really solid. I was about a 170 benching 295 just to give an example. So then married with kids and still did some lifting. Now fast forward to 50 been divorced for about 10 yrs battled a bad opiate addiction been clean from everything about 2 yrs now. I’m in the gym about 4 days and I look forward to it like when I was a teenager. I’ve been very consistent for a yr now. I changed my diet about 3 months ago trying to lose some weight. Im 5’5 and was 208 I’m down to 190 since early march. Been taking creatine for over 6 months getting around 180 to 220 grams of protein and drinking around 140 oz of water. Recently started taking about 300 mg of cypionate. Any tips or things I should do besides bloodwork. Ive already set up an appointment this week for that. A lot has changed back when I was really in it you had to get flex magazines I learned a lot from that Arnold’s bodybuilding encyclopedia and Wieders books as well. Thanks

Great to see you here! Lots of guys your (our) age on the board with tons of knowledge. Glad to see you got cleaned up and back in the gym it really is the best therapy. You talking about Flex magazine takes me back, I was a big fan of M&F until MM2k came out in the 90's. Wasn't no youtube or boards back then it was just magazines, overhyped supplements, and gyms were usually a hole in the wall sweatbox...damn I miss those days.
A place you might want to look at for bloodwork done regularly is Rhythm Health, tests each month with no lab appts or anything -if you want more info hit me up. If you don't already know there are a ton of apps out there you can get on your phone to help track progress on workouts and diet. I made the switch from notepads and excel spreadsheets a few months ago and it's been extremely helpful. Other than that the basics are still the same - consistency in the gym and diet- seems like you got that down. Happy lifting!

Thanks bro I appreciate it. When you mentioned supplements I started thinking g about some Hot stuff, cybergenics, Lou Ferrigno had one called shock therapy it’s hard to say how much money I spent on that stuff lol. I used to do so much I remember for years I couldn’t put on weight back then I was strong and cut up as hell but I only weighed around 135 I’m 5’5”. But I was doing 27 diffferent lifts 5 sets of a 8 of each one and between each set me and my buddy would do 5 push ups and 10 push ups almost 135 set a day 3 times a week lmao. Overtraining slightly we were still in high school but it’s funny thinking back on it. Yeah I’ve been thinking about going to one of these apps thanks for the tip.

Metabolol and Metabolol 2 - those were my favorites. I remember saving enough money to get Cybergenics, went to GNC and the guy behind the counter said "it's 140 but I'll give it to you for 110 if you don't need a receipt" I was like heck yea. I wonder now if the dude actually worked there cause that 110 went to the side of the register. Before then it was a lot of milk, raw eggs with orange juice, and because I was poor day old bread from the bakery.
That workout seems like a Weider publication workout. That sounds brutal, fun but brutal still.
For the app I use HEVY - cool thing about it is it has a web interface so you can make your workouts and edit on your computer not just your phone.
