Not necessarily supplementation, but what has help me to get rid of body fat at the most resistance parts has been complex training. Basically you perform 4-5 exercises back to back with no rest between them for a certain amount of time. My go to:
barbell shoulder press x 6
front squat x 7...
You have to ask her
1) If she wants to lose the weight for herself or for you
2) Why does she want to lose the weight
I've dealt the same issue with my mom gaining weight and until those questions were ever asked, nothing changed.
I would say that regardless of what fat burner supplement you use, make sure it has at least one of these five ingredients:
-Green Tea
-Capsaicin
-Bitter Orange
-Caffeine Anhydrous
-Yerba Mate
