Ekaterina Zharkova, 38, of Costa Mesa, used tools to disable security sensor devices and steal from stores such as Gucci, Prada and Jimmy Choo, based on a news release by the California Highway Patrol Border Division’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force. Zharkova was arrested after investigators followed her into the Nordstrom Rack at the South Coast shopping mall and witnessed her walk out with $3,500 in stolen items. They issued a subpoena and found the rest of the $300K worth of goods in her apartment.

my question is why didn't they arrest her much sooner?

were police afraid she wouldn't be prosecuted until the amount reached a ridiculous amount?

as a navy vet you can bet that i remember, honor and appreciate Pearl Harbor and the greatest generation. i occasionally run into korean veterans [my father in law was one [RIP ART] but there are few WW2 veterans left..it is our responsibility as Americans to never forget them.
