I’ve always said teachers and cops need to be paid a solid six figures and have incredible ongoing training. They are two incredibly important roles in our society.

A lot of the law is written in anticipation of wrong doing, of course. It is like when you write a contract, you need to think of all the ways the situation might change that you never expected and create rules for how the new situations will be handled. A law that doesn't anticipate things not going as planned would be a really sh*tty law.

Having said that I totally agree that a cop kicking a guy who has already been restrained in the head is something I am wholeheartedly against with the one caveat that videos can be misleading...and I don't know the situation but the way it has been presented I am on your side. Generally, my feeling is, that putting cuffs on someone is basically a symbol gesture that you are now responsible for them and their well being. Are there exceptions, possibly yes, but my gut is always going to view those exceptions with some skepticism.

But I disagree that just because we have seen a dozen videos of bad cops this year that we are systemically wrong or it happens all the time. As a matter of fact, many of those videos did turn out to be different than they originally appeared and .any of them had to be deceptively edited in order to support the storyline that was desired and the full video made the situations look much different.

For instance, a video of a cop shooting someone in the back would make me think corruption. Another video showing the guy running from the cop had a knife and was going toward another cop or potential victim would dramatically change the situation.

Watch the documentary called "Waiting for Superman" - a woman was appointed to be the superintendent for the Washington DC school system which is one of the worst in the nation. She had a plan to pay successful teachers who reached certain milestones 6-figure salaries- but in order to make it work the teacher's union had to agree to allow her to cut the teachers who performed poorly. The union wouldn't bend and made sure that never happened.

Thats why charter schools are the best, in NYC they had some of the best overall students in the country but then Mayer De-falsio said it wasnt fair and has been working for years to destroy them so kids can be dumbed down in traditional public schools equally with teachers who have no risk for being lazy.

Unfortunately the documentary starts off with video of Jimmy Carter, then Reagan, Then Bush Sr., Clinton, GW, and Obama all saying, "I will be the education preaident!" "I will turn around our school systems!", etc.

But yes, the union is the reason not one of those people from either side could solve anything.

It all starts with abolishing the Department of Education in its entirety and forever and with endless one size fits all government bribes (no child left behind) etc.....

If we are going to have a taxed based education system, well then give the power to the States and localities and get rid of centralized corrupt filth.

So true!

Another big problem in society today that is downplayed is the abuse healthcare workers (nurses in particular) are subjected to. We’re obligated to care for violent/hostile people that also happen to be too sick to be in jail and it happens on a very regular basis. Hospital emergency departments deal with some crazy ass people and situations. There are actually quite a few parallels between healthcare workers and law enforcement and there is definitely a mutual respect for one another.

the reason i brought up reagan when referring to teachers union was his reputation as a union buster....remember the air traffic controller strike?

Was thinking about responding to your first post until I read your second...then I just realized how much of a waste of time itd be. I imagine you really loved high school biology class...

If your first post had ANY basis in reality, COVID-19 infection would be causing infertility or early pregnancy loss based on the naturally occurring antibody response directed at the spike protein. The antibodies the vaccine yields are to the same protein your body already produces antibodies towards...

I get it. But also, I have encountered some nurses (while my brother was in the hospital recovering from heart surgery) who were condescending c*nts. The nurses in the icu were amazing, but the ones in the recovery unit couldn’t give a sh*t less about the patients they were watching.

Reagan accomplished a lot of great things. He did some things that NO ONE had the ballz to do and saved American lives doing it. But you are right, the teacher's union is so unstoppable that no one in 40+ years has been able to make any progress.

SOME nurses are THE worst. They often think they are doctors and have no clue how clueless they really are. But then, some doctors don't have a clue either.

Of course, there are good nurses too who actually DO know more than you would expect and ironically they are usually the ones who act the least arrogant.

i am a conservative republican who believes welfare is necessary, and who is anti-capital punishment---what category do i fit into?

i am well aware that i often don't live up to the teachings of JESUS and am a sinner, but i am a believer in JESUS CHRIST being a savior to all who accepts him and as a recovering alcoholic i truly believe that GOD is my higher power and this belief saved my life.

if someone chooses to call my beliefs a fairy tale then i will pray for them.

I know a lot of very good Christian people! My entire family is Christian, and they are all much better people than I am

I hope that when I talk about God in my posts that people see that I am not mocking God or Jesus, only the hypocrisy of some of those who claim to follow him. God also talked about false prophets in his teachings

AC/DC power up....just listened to a few cuts, doesn't have the raw power of earlier albums but gracious me, amazing these guys are still going---much rather listen to these old legends at less than their best than anything out there today-but to be fair this is the genre i grew up with and it's my comfort zone...

btw-all the original guys are back on this album minus malcom young-RIP malcom, thanks for the decades of great music!!!
