Donald Trump running for president

@HIT4ME All good points. Sorry I have been trying to catch up in this thread. You lose track and next thing you know there is 10 pages of posts and yours happen to be books in themselves. I will note that I do not claim to be a Republican. They just happen to be the party I vote for in order to defeat democrats.

About the China virus crap honestly I don’t think I will ever make sense of it. And quite frankly I have all but given up trying to. 9200, 180000, what’s the real number? Who knows. Somewhere in the middle probably.

As for me bitching about stuff being closed, or not getting a haircut, or not going to a restaurant...I’m only raising points for others. Oddly enough my life hasn’t really changed that much since China virus hit. I don’t do theaters. I’m not a huge fan of restaurants. I don’t do malls or shop. Everything I like to do is secluded and was unchanged.

Sorry if this is a jumbled mess. I have been working on guns and working on my reloads for the two competitions I have this month and still had to squeeze in traps and shoulders today.

Haha, I totally get that. A lot of times my posts are extra long because I come back and there are 3 pages to respond to haha.

As far as the virus, I feel like it has been turned into a political weapon and somehow the Republicans have had this line in the sand drawn for them and they have all lined up behind it. I think it is a dangerous virus that we know little about and we had to take precautions. But some skepticism is warranted and it makes for good debate I guess.

Like you, I keep to myself. I actually enjoy the distance from people haha. So maybe I am biased as well.

As far as the guns - exciting stuff. Good luck in the competition. I got my first handgun in March and it has been a lot to learn, I see it as a big responsibility but it is also a lot of fun.

Man I wish it wasn’t true either. It’s the sign of the times. The Portland DA is refusing to prosecute the protestors. Portland is asking for surrounding sheriff’s offices to assist during the riots and they’re refusing. One sheriff said law enforcement is actually arresting the same people night after night due to the DA dropping charges.

Thanks for the well wishes and prayers BigT. We need them.

Stay safe out there man.

Good on you for getting your first blaster. Make sure you get out there and train with it. If you need any advice, training suggestions, recommendations, or anything firearm related hit me up.

Thanks man, always up for talking about it. Been trying to learn safety, practice dry firing/handling, been to the range a few times and I am just starting to figure out how to pull the trigger without screwing up the shot. Plus I live in MA so the laws are ludicrous. I am getting almost comfortable enough that I would feel OK carrying.

You are on the right path. Dry fire is some of the best practice you can do. Drawing from concealment. Grip. Trigger discipline.

Good trigger control exercise: put a coin on front sight post and pull trigger. When you can do it over and over without the coin falling off then you will shoot much better. Emphasis is on pulling straight back and not hooking your finger or you will be low left of your are right handed and low right if you are left handed.

Another tool I like to use for dry fire practice is getting one of the bullet lasers online that fires a red laser pointer when you pull the trigger. The practicing drawing and firing at a small target in the house.

LA Sheriff's Dept: Deputies kill Black man who dropped a gun

Too bad those Deputies didn't have a social worker riding with them...probably could've saved this young man's life...DONT fight with the police...especially while armed.
OK, OK, so what I don’t get is the repetitive nature of these events and the fact that these “victims“ don’t seem to be learning anything from the prior publicized event. It’s as if they are purposely sacrificing themselves to keep the narrative going. Sadly, that wouldn’t surprise me in the least...

Great idea with the coin. I need to work on the drawing as well. There is so much to learn. Even being able to draw and shoot - it isn't like you will have time to always draw and setup. It is funny how fast you get accustomed. When I got my gun it had no manual safety and I was very nervous about that, but my friend told me none of his guns have a manual safety, and then I learned a bit more and realized I am probably happier without it now. Kind of like how people debate carrying with one in the chamber.

Thanks man. Congrats on your first handgun. Dry fire is great stuff man. It can really improve your shooting.

Thanks man, I love the sport of it. When I went to the range the first time and realized I really sucked but it is the type of thing I could repeat and get better and better I was hooked.

Manual safety will get you killed if you don’t train to always disengage it when drawing. Your safety is your booger picker. Keep it off the trigger until you want to destroy something.

Yes, I have the four rules down, finger off the trigger. My gun does have a trigger safety as well, and internal safeties, got an FN 509. I got lucky because none of the stores had much in stock and I have been happy with it - although I do wish maybe the handle was a bit smaller for concealment . Oh well, I will have to buy the 509 compact or a P365 next.

I’m a Glock guy. Any striker fired pistol that is comfortable for you will work though.

I have never shot a gun of any kind. Something tells me I would be a natural though...
All across the country they are organizing interstate rallies of trucks driving down the interstate. I meant I was going to rig up some flag poles in the bed.
Hmmm, interesting. Maybe some diversions off the interstate to plow through some organized protests can be thrown in the mix? It sounds like it would be a missed opportunity otherwise. You don’t want to look back on it one day and say “I wish we had!”

I agree, the flags waving from the bed of the truck would be a nice touch..

Rolling heavy with my Raptor. Protestors in the road won’t be a problem

If anything good has come of Trumps presidency, it's the red hats.

Speaking of morons. You do realize the other team doesn’t even know bathroom to use and their leader can’t string together half a sentence right?

Haha- who isn't these days? Fanboy :)

Nah, I probably would have gone with a Glock out of sheer lack of knowledge of much else when I got my gun - but they are hard to buy in MA. They are on the "approved" list but there are some legalities I don't fully understand that keep most gun dealers from selling new Glocks. I know the state only allows 10-round capacities, so most guns have to be sold with a reduced capacity mag - like my 509 which has 17 rounds but I got 10 round mags because this is MA. But I don't think that is the issue. Basically you have to find a Glock that was made "pre-ban" and that means they are hard to come by.

I've been happy with the 509. It's very glock-like. A lot of the videos I watch basically say that Glock's out of the box aren't as good as the 509 is out of the box, but a customized Glock is better. Since I'm new, and this is MA and customizing can maybe create legal issues...it's a suitable tradeoff for me.

I was looking at that and a Sig P320 and I'm glad I didn't do the 320 because of all the drop issues they seem to be having. Not sure a gun that can go off inadvertently is what I'd want :) I know a lot of people say it's fine, but I'm not qualified to make that judgement yet. Now that I'm getting the hang of it I can hit steel plates from about 50-70 feet maybe 60-70% of the time with my 509. I will get better at it.

Honestly, I got my LTC 6+ years ago and never shot a gun until April of this year. It isn't as easy as you'd think, but it's not super hard. I don't have anyone training me other than my friend, who was in the military but kind of just lets me do my thing and have fun - so I'm sure someone who knew how to train someone would be able to tell me things right away and I'd get better...but I'm methodically figuring things out. When you watch videos they all say how right-handed shooters tend to hit low/left when they shoot because they move the gun when they pull the trigger. Some videos claim this is actually a flinching maneuver because you are anticipating the gun going off. Knowing this I kept trying to figure it out - but it was a matter of realizing that I needed to pull the trigger to the "wall" as I was aiming and then break through the wall while I was on target. The longer pull as I took up slack really made my hand move. With practice, it won't be as slow for me as it is now, but I have to get the muscle memory down first. I think Dixon's statement of pulling straight back rather than curling is really the key.

Anyway - you are in ME right? So you're constitutional carry - you should go get one! Just be responsible with it, which I know you would be.

That looks nice, but I think I might start with one of these...

Haven't you heard a word Biden has said? She ain't black.

So some tolerant libtard apparently is not a fan of either my Raptor or the Trump Maga sticker in the rear window. Came back to the truck and someone threw something at the glass. Looks gross whatever it is.

It's fascinating to read and see the behaviors of those who have found their tribe. It's the subtle confirmation of beliefs and biases that there are others like them and that they're on the "right side."

Things like soy-boy, saying Biden can't string sentences together, etc. etc. it's all this divisive talk that serves no purpose other than to dog whistle to your fellow MAGA people.

Irrespective of who I like Biden / Trump, I've found repeating those kind of soundbytes and cheap shots really derail any productive conversations. I'm new to the thread, so maybe that's the point? Just another small corner of the internet to strive for confirmation bias and not seek out new perspective, ways to expand your opinion, and test yourself?

Just seems like HIT is trying to have some genuine engagement and others just want to be safe with their fellow MAGA people and not actually "listen" to ways they may be wrong. Democrats are just as guilty of this of course, trust me.

Just some thoughts I've had this morning as I read through a few of you bouncing memes off each other.

I go way back with Glock and carried one for work for many many years. It is the most popular gun issued for LE agencies and also issued in various military units. They are dead reliable and easy to work on. I can completely disassemble my Glocks with just a punch and it takes less than a minute. Also for manual of arms I can pick up any Glock model and shoot it exceptionally because they share the same manual of arms and platform.

For normal clothing I usually carry my G19 with RMR. For anything with an elastic band or athletic wear I usually use my G43.

I can buy magazines for cheap. It shoots any ammo I put in it. I have tried many other platforms over the years but I always end up back with Glock. I am also a certified Glock armorer.

Biden not stringing sentences together is not just a talking point. He literally can’t string sentences together.

For every montage of Biden gaffes (literally had a stutter as a kid), I'd be able to share back one of Trump speaking at a second grade level to his people avoiding words over 4 letters. I don't know which is worse, so it becomes a circle of cheap shots ya know?

I'd rather learn about things Trump has done well - criminal reform, etc and also educate people on things he's done extremely poorly like handling of COVID, divisive redirect fueling the unrest in our country, gutting a lot of the scientific innovation and funding, blocking H1-B so now Silicon Valley's source of global talent will just go to Monteal (which you may not care about, but the valley was one of the few remaining bragging rights we had on a global stage imo), etc.

I am genuinely interested in learning about what Trump has actually done that puts this country in a better place. The economy? It's been shown time and time again he simply maintained the positive trends he inherited from Obama, hell Neil Cavuto interrupted his speech once to point it out...so I find myself searching and searching without any clear "wins."

Healthcare? Mexico paying for the border? Lack of guidance from the highest office as to how to handle and respect the dangers of COVID...

I think you have to give Trump credit for the economy. Yes, it was going up during Obama, but Trump continued it. We’ve been in a bull market for like 10 years now and it continued throughout Trump’s entire first term. He deserves credit for that.

Some of Trumps accomplishments

Obama’s ISIS is now WASWAS.
MY tax burden is down and my income is up.
MY bank account looks better
MY local infrastructure is 100x improved over the Obama years.
Trump brokered a peace deal with the Taliban
Trump brokered a peace deal with Israel and UAE
Trump did prison reform
Trump got rid of the unconstitutional individual mandate
Trump put the economic growth in 3 years and a pandemic at a rate Obama couldnt manage one 8.

Obama’s accomplishments

Men can now use the women’s bathroom.

And you want to point out other people parroting talking points lol.
He literally just repeated every popular liberal media talking point....lol

And, Bidens issues are wayyyy beyond a stuttering problem. Are you serious? I can agree that Trump doesnt speak "Presidential" at times...but he is sharp as a tack.

Yep, agreed! I always say he inherited it but also didn't take it off the rails. So that's fair.

Starting to see a pattern here, you have a really hard time supporting Trump without simultaneously taking shots at others. Is that a trait of Trump supports? Parry, riposte at all times?

Are you calling them talking points because you disagree? Or because you've heard them before? I'd be happy to cite support for anything I stated and if I'm wrong, happy to admit that as well.

Was there something in particular you think is false?

Nah man....the Obama administration started all that. Trump just continued it.

Not at all. Obama blew it with foreign policy and criminal reform. Why do you just assume someone is 100% in support or 100% against? Can I not give Obama credit for fixing the economy and also blame him for many of his shortcomings?

You seem to have a very black and white view of things, I promise you, the world has many more shades than that if you allow it to.

Oops I keep forgetting my place. Conservatives aren’t allowed to talk **** about democrats and the great messiah of hope Obama and his doofus VP biden. Only liberals are allowed to belittle Trump at will and not catch any grief about it.

I make no secret about it. Obama was a piece of crap. Biden is a piece of crap. That’s my opinion and I am within my right to express that opinion. Just as you are within your right to put your TDS on full display here.

So you’re going to talk about economy and ignore the fact that Obama inherited a **** economy from Bush and turned it around to massive bull market which Trump inherited?

That’s not biased at all...

When I got my gun it had no manual safety and I was very nervous about that, but my friend told me none of his guns have a manual safety, and then I learned a bit more and realized I am probably happier without it now. Kind of like how people debate carrying with one in the chamber.

Thanks man, I love the sport of it. When I went to the range the first time and realized I really sucked but it is the type of thing I could repeat and get better and better I was hooked.

Shooting is addictive. There’s tons of good stuff on YouTube. Look up Venti 100 Travis Haley. I’ve been to several of his law enforcement only classes. He’s got some really good stuff. He has other videos about breaking down the draw and grip as well. Just make sure when you go to the range you practice with a purpose. Some many people just go and shoot with no purpose.

That’s been the consensus. It’s either black or white. There’s no gray in this thread. You can’t support one thing but not another. That kind of critical thinking makes you a soyboy snowflake.

So you’re going to talk about economy and ignore the fact that Obama inherited a **** economy from Bush and turned it around to massive bull market which Trump inherited?

That’s not biased at all...

I don’t play stocks. My income was stagnant and I saw no changes to local economy and infrastructure under Obama. If people were succeeding and prospering it wasn’t anyone I could see or relate to.

Manual safety will get you killed if you don’t train to always disengage it when drawing. Your safety is your booger picker. Keep it off the trigger until you want to destroy something.

I second that statement about the booger picker. I tell new officers all the time that that’s the most important of the four safety rules. Even if you do flag someone with your muzzle in a stressful situation, at least the gun isn’t going off unless you have your booger picker on the bang switch at the wrong time!
