The guitar intro the way he plays it. I'm no good at explaining instruments, but he plays that (riff?) With just his fingers on the strings...

Man I wish I could explain it better. Just watch the video. If that shet doesn't give you goosebumps, you're not a true rock fan lol

I like guitar riffs as well. Memorable to me are those in Cheap Trick's "I want you to want me", Live at Budakon of course and in Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero".

If you have not checked out his band "Light the Torch" they are absolutely FIRE.
He continues to put out quality music.

Seriously... Im mainly just a metal head nowadays and listen to really heavy music. But no one can hold a candle up to tool in my opinion. Favorite band of all time and its not even a hard choice to make. Seen them live twice and still the best shows ive ever been to. Danny carey just blows me away with what he is capable of doing on the drums. I, as a drummer, literally dont understand it.

Yeah, the drum beat for 46 and 2 is based off of a mathematical equation called the fibonnaci sequence...and the song is about human evolution, youngian philosophies, and bio chemistry...too much to even think about and Manyard makes a song about it. Just blows me away

I agree, too just had such a unique sound and I have had a drumset forever, but just don't have what it takes. But just thinking of the amount of practice and sessions it took to get down all the crazy pauses and timing in their songs blows my mind.
And his hauntingly awesome voice just takes it to another level. They're all so talented. Wish I could've seen em live but they were a little before my time, My oldest sister introduced me to a lot of the bands of their time.
