Simple day. Busy at work and close to going on vacation so motivation is zilch. Did upper again because I'm still pretty sore. I'll squat tomorrow and then that's it.

haha I saw that, great minds think alike

Also, wide grip is the most comfortable on my shoulders. I don't intend on abusing it and ruining my shoulders so I'll probably use a foam pad or slingshot for a bit.

^That. Bunch of articles by him and Dr Hatfield that are worth the read.

60-80%, submaximal weight with maximal force applied to the bar.

Awesome man lemme know what #'s you put up

bar, bar, 1, 2, 3 pps x5 each then threw the belt on for 365x1, then got the suit on w/ the belt & straps down. 405x1, 425x1 about a min later, then threw the straps up. 445x1 was stupid hard, took 5 min & hit 465x1 and it was considerably better than 445 - there's really a technique to working the suit it seems, & it would take a lot more practice to really make it work I think.

475-485 could be right there, maybe more, but I was exhausted & didn't feel like missing w/ close to 500 on my back if I was wrong.

For reference, 463 is my best in comp, about this bodyweight but I was on a lot of Epistane around early march. Stuff makes me surprisingly strong.

I'd take advantage of the suit and widen up the stance a bit. I regret not doing that when I was wearing it.

You think it's even worth using it w/ the straps up, in general? Or mainly just w/ straps down & belted down? Seems like straps up is getting into a strength curve that's getting fairly far from raw numbers.

I guess it depends on why you're wearing the suit really. If you want the full experience of the suit, then just work straps down for a few weeks then throw the straps up.

If you're looking for overload work to carryover to a raw squat in the manner that briefs would, then keep the straps down.

Rodja, Nomz, and/or Herderdude may have better thoughts.

I would think that using a suit for overload by a raw lifter would be detrimental. It requires a different technique for it to really work and this would take you away from your raw set up. Wouldn't other forms such as reverse bands, etc, be more beneficial?

There was a study that came out of LSU a few years back showing that gear can increase strength for a raw lifter when implemented appropriately.

Nice work. Alphamine + AmentoMax is yummmmmmmm.

Enjoy your vacation.

You find the cambered bar better holding it up high? I've been doing low just bc that is always how I see it held?

I usually do low also but I randomly put my hands there and it felt good so I rolled with it. I hooked my thumb around the intersection of the camber

Interesting. I may mess around with it next time I use that bar

Key point^^

True.

I think if Hyde wants to get his money's worth out of the suit; then he should pretend to be a geared lifter for a bit, and get a fat ass squat out of it.

If he has a meet coming up, or wants to focus on raw work, then maybe just overload with the straps down once in a blue moon.

Word. Use them mainly as briefs to improve the carryover to raw work.

I've been looking at Amentomax. What are the biggest positives you've noticed?

I think I read Bolt explain it as a similar strength output that caffeine would give you, and that's really the only way I can explain it. Nattydisaster has some other good info on it. I've only used it a week and a half so far, and prewo only.

The Alphamine/AC was a lie. It was all just for you Gokix!

that, and Herderdude has some pretty awesome shirtless videos, so I had to follow suit at some point

Just trying to feel sexy in your old age, ey? Lol

Work capacity increase, mood elevation, and some strength. It increases the amount of calcium released during muscle contraction, which can increase power/strength.

Thanks gents. I bought it to be used as a pair of briefs, & wasn't planning on using it more than every other week, if that. Doing a westside split last few wks & truly loving the banded days; I feel like I'm already noticing tighter form & seem to be getting stronger. Never used bands until recently, but I love that I can squat every week without it beating me up so bad on the dynamic day, & I feel squatting twice/wk is really making the difference.

First lift day back. Got into the airport late last night and woke up early for duty.

Most likely going to run the Cube starting next Monday to lead into Oct 12 (Someone double check my math for 9 weeks lol) I'm reading over 10/20/Life pre-contest template again but I'm unsure about it. If I do the 10/20, then it'll start this week and I'll consider today a missed deadlift day.

I maintained my 223 bw on leave through portion control thankfully. I don't feel any weaker. Just tight and lethargic. I just wanted today to be fast and explosive all the way through. Also, started carb backloading again. I missed it.

That all said...

Deadlifts

Conventional Deadlift
315x2x10

The only rest time was waiting on the other guy to pull his double.

Pendlay Row
225x4x5
185x12

Anterior Held Rear Barbell Lunge
135x3x8 each leg

Done.

Your Pendlay rows are disgusting!!!
I'm gonna have to BS with ya a lil bit about meet prep. I'm losing gains/strength along with my sleep.....

Anytime ya want bud. It'll be better when you get back to work. Just try to find calories somewhere man.

calories are no prob... It's just using them that has been rough. If/when u get time, can u PM me a basic outline of how you go about a prep. I'll have to customize it a tad to match my schedule, but anything will help.
Thanks man!

Tough call on the meet prep. He goes really freaking hard close to the meet. Hard to tell how everyone reacts to that. Not doubting, but I thought about that. Mike T does that, too. And some others.

Starting Monday, it's 10wks out - I know, because I just signed up for one in Springfield on Sat, Oct 11th. Not sure if I should Cube it again or stick w/ the Westside I've been doing it. I know it's really for geared lifters, but I'm LOVING it, so that's kind of pushing me to stay with it...even considered 3 cycles of 5/3/1 w/ no deload til the meet week.

Thoughts?

Hard to say on using Westside or Cube, but definitely not 5/3/1 unless you implement 90%+ singles.
