AICAR and AP, Interesting Statements!!!

AICAR is an AMPk [adenosine monophosphate kinase] agonist that has been shown to regulate both glucose homeostasis, as well as adaptive thermogenesis. You may have seen recent research on it heralding it as, "Exercise in a pill". This is said because it upregulates PPARa [peroxisome proliferated activated receptor alpha] gene expression in adipocytes, thereby controlling target genes that control how your body tells your fat cells how to react in energy demands - i.e., tells fat cells to expend themselves! Ostensibly, this is all caused by AMPk regulation.

In reading some old research, I found this interesting:

Intriguingly, the effects of berberine on AMPK activity in adipocytes
were more pronounced than that of 5-aminoimidazole-4-
carboxamide riboside (AICAR), a known AMPK agonist
(Fig. 5A)

Considering AICAR is being considered as the newest product in a sophisticated line of possible doping agents, this statement is absolutely phenomenal!!

Ah that one works. I have this one saved on my comp already too, great article though. I thought it was one comparing AICAR vs Berberine.

Nope, just measuring the attenuation of lipogenic gene expression by BBR, mostly mediated by AMPk.
