Been sipping on my tangy tangerine compete since 7am just about gone now. So far so good, today is my rest day. Tomorrow ME deadlifts RE squats and a little conditioning/core. Today is unfortunately low on calories, but tomorrow it's feast time!

REDuction is good, gives me a little kick in the morning and settles me at night. Definitely enjoying it so far.

Today's Workout

Conventional Deadlift
350x5 400x3 440x1

Back Squat
5x185x10

KB Swing 80lbx10 - Hanging Leg Raises (straight) x 10 - 4 sets rest til 130 BPM

Forearm wrist curls 4x10
Pronate/supinate with Thick grip 4 sets til failure
Radial Deviation 3 sets to failure
Ulnar Deviation 3 sets to failure
(I like to go crazy on the forearms after my heavy deadlift days)

Workout felt great, my recovery time on my swing and leg raise super sets was much faster this week. Rest was about 90 secs max, last week roughly 120-180 seconds to recover... damn nice

Last night I binged on pork lo mein, general tso's shrimp, steamed pork dumplings... 3 slinsane before this just make me feel a little less ****ty about it... lol. I had fasted a little longer because I was on the road during the day and went light on the carbs in the beginning of the fast... kind of looked like this

18.5 hour fast ended at ~3:30pm with chicken breast on a salad with some oil/vinegar dressing ~350kcal

6:30pm supreme protein bar ~400kcal

8:30pm the chinese food feast began

Yesterday's workout

Flat BB Bench
195x5 225x3 250x1 (I hate bench! Always been one of my most frustrating exercises, I get strong with it then somewhere along the line I my weights drop back down and then eventually go back up)

Seated DB Military Press
50x10 50x10 55x10 55x10 55x10
DB Row (last set Kroc Rows)
4 sets 110x10, 110x17

Fat Grip DB Curls 3 sets of 10
Tricep Pushdown 3 sets of 10
Reverse flyes 3 sets of 10

--

Today I did some light cardio/recovery work... mobility drills, bodyweight exercises, different carrying variations, light jog etc...

Body feels good, sleeping really well lately. Woke up at 177 today. Low calorie low carb day, probably wake up at around 175ish tomorrow. Tomorrow is ME front squats RE deadlifts, can't wait!

Today's Workout

ME Front Squat
195x5, 225x3, 250x1 (these were rough! I decided to only do ME front squats since it's easier on my lower back than back squats... the difference in weights I can use is quite humbling. However I know in strongman my weakest event is the atlas stones, and getting good at these is really going to help me there.)

RE Deficit Conventional Deadlift
5 sets 225x10 (decided to make these lighter than my normal RE weight but make them harder with more ROM. I stood on a bumper plate... next time I think I will use a regular 45lb plate because it was awkward finding the right foot position on a bumper plate with grooves on it.)

SB Plank w/ pushout 3x8 + Circles 3x8 each side
Jump Squat 3x10

Light good mornings 2x65x15 (I want to start implementing these to help the bottom portion of my deadlift and stones and hopefully some carryover to my squats too. Started very light as I want to make sure I keep form PERFECT, not risking hurting the back.)

Weight was 178 this morning... not something I was planning on. Not sure exactly why, maybe my caloric deficit wasn't low enough yesterday... No big deal. Today is carb up day so far my meals looked like this

Broke the fast post workout 2pm with: 7oz grilled turkey breast, 3.7oz Mahi Mahi, 3/4 cup brown rice, 1 cup blueberries, 2 containers of vanilla chobani greek yogurt

About to have next meal 9oz top sirloin, 2 big baked potatoes(nothing on them), 1 1/2 cups asparagus

5000 iu is on the mid/higher end of what is acceptable for daily d3 dosage. No toxicity issues with this, 20 minutes of sunbathing makes around 10-20,000 iu in your skin.

Did some hill sprints today, ~ 60 yards for 8 reps. Nothing crazy, they were actually really easy... going to have to go to a steeper hill I think. After that did some random stuff like 2 sets of 4 box jumps, 2 sets of 5 rep clap pushups, little bit of stretching. If this week I don't get to my goal weight I am going to have to kick it up a notch I think. Low carbs today, just had my first meal 9 oz turkey breast tenderloin, 1 1/2 cups broccolini, 4 caps fish oil, 2 CLA. Probly similar meal tonight w/ pork tenderloin and kale salad. Tomorrow is ME military press, RE bench, arms/shoulders.

^^^

really comes down to how much you're out in the sun. i'll typically lower, if not drop my d3 alltogether in the summer, but when fall/winter rolls around i hop back on 5k IU/day

definitely one of my favorite movements, and learned from trying to escalate too quickly how one small problem with form can hurt. back was sore one day after I had decided to up the weight again. realized in reality that heavy weight isn't really needed here. Adding this in should def help your deadlift, i know it helped mine.

solid workouts so far bro. how's your recovery been so far?

Recovery is pretty good I feel extremely energetic lately. My wife is away so it's hard so far to comment on libido as I am not getting any action right now... I should know more about that next week :fingersx: Endurance today was GREAT... I felt like I attacked my workout and had more left in me towards the end. And like I said the hill sprints yesterday were a breeze, at least cardio wise(My legs are SUPER sore). Also I was stronger today:

Todays workout

ME Military press
130x5 150x3 165x1 strict (+4 push jerk just for fun, last rep VERY slow negative ~6-8 seconds on the way down)

Fat gripz DB Bench
70x10 70x10 70x10 70x9 70x9 (last 2, was just able to get nine) +5 lbs each hand for first 2 sets, +2.5lb each hand last 3 sets
Weighted Chinups
+10lbsx10, +10lbsx10, +10lbsx10, +10lbs x 6(+4 rest pause), +10lbs x 6 (+3 rest pause, +2 rest pause)+10lbs each set
EZ bar curl 3 sets70x10
Dips 3x12 BW
Low cable Row 3x15

so far I am really enjoying this stack, good energy/mood going on, what seems to be a boost in my strength (we'll see if it keeps up), and definitely noticeable increase in endurance. Also it tastes damn good, some days I wanna drink extra just cuz it tastes so good! Body comp is getting better and better every week! I feel like I am really focused on getting to where I want right now. I went a while without direction or motivation... but I am really just attacking this goal 24/7 I have never been super lean... so now the goal is get there, stay strong, then try and not get fat ever again. That's one reason I really enjoy logging these things. Not just because I get to try something that's going to help me get there, but also I feel more accountable when I log all the time.

Today's workout (sort of a deload week)

Conventional Deadlifts
Sadiv Set: 12 minutes as many fast and explosive reps as possible. Weight rests completely between reps no touch and go, and the bar needs to move FAST.
300lbs for 44 reps in 12 minutes - ~2 every thirty seconds (rested a little more here and there) Total poundage: 13200 lbs

Normally on a sadiv set the goal is to reach 20 reps. However, that is with 60% and I think I used a little bit more than 60% and I obviously got way more than 20... I am going to replace my RE deadlift days with this approach and add 5 lbs everyweek and see how that works.

Back Squats
3 sets of 20 reps w/ 135

Forearm work, same as last sunday... lots of sets many different exercises

Energy felt great, really enjoyed this workout as a deload because I do some things I don't normally do... sadiv set was fun and 20 reps on squats was very much like cardio.

Today's workout

20 minutes moderate pace walk early AM

--
Early afternoon

Flat bench Sadiv Set @ 175 29 total reps ~2.5 per minute @ 12 minutes of work

Z-press 5 sets 85x10 (these were hard)
Seated Neutral Cable Row 5 sets 150x10 (went pretty easy here)

Fat grip curls 3 sets of 10
Tri pushdown 3 sets of 10
TRX row 3 sets of 12

Today went decent, another deload week. Decided to play around with the z-press, and damn it is HARD. For those who dont know what it is here is a link of what it looks like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-epiDfYFIUM (this is a friend of mine in the video, I wish I was that strong lol)

Energy was great, huge pump going on during the workout. However, definitely had some shoulder pain going on, although I think it was just the tissue tightening up on me... gave it a stretch and it seemed to go away. Vacation is getting close, just 2 weeks til I head down to Orlando. Endurance is definitely up, heart rate wasn't getting any higher than 90-100 during my morning cardio. Looks like I am gonna have to start jogging, MEH...lol

What do you notice from adding chains to the bar? I've considered it. Does your gym provide them, or did you buy em?

Wha

Mike
Well I work at the gym I workout at, and I bought chains for the gym along w/ other goodies. For that day it was all about trying a different variation to see how I liked it. This was the first time I did deadlifts w/ chains... previously I used them for squats and bench here and there. Looking at a powerlifting perspective, they provide accommodating resistance therefor where I am my weakest, the floor, it is its lightest. Where I am
strongest, past the knee, it is its heaviest. It also teaches the body to keep accelerating the bar as you stand up. As far as a bodybuilding perspective I can do 12 reps with 225 at the bottom and 265 at the top and it doesn't feel much heavier than 225 since I get the bar accelerating so fast from the lighter weight at the bottom... more weight more growth.

I am used to gripping fat stuff since I train for strongman. However, you don't need to use nearly as much weight while using them, as they do make it quite a bit harder. I like them for pressing and curls the most.

I am going to treat this week as a over reaching week in anticipation of my vacation. I am going to do some double workout days, hit each lift twice this week, olympic lifts every day etc... I know I won't be touching many heavy weights in Disney so I will use it as a week of rest, although I will still hit the gym but will take it easy.

Yesterdays workout

Power clean 160 5 singles (just as a warmup for deadlifts)

Conventional Deadlift worked up to 410 for 4 singles

Conventional Deadlift 340 lbs As many reps as possible in 60 seconds (event training) 15 reps

Good mornings 5 sets 95x10 (was going to do back squats, but I have a slight pull in the groin from showing clients how to sprint without properly warming up)
Wrist Curls 3-4 sets 40lbsx10

1 leg RDL 4 sets 30x8ea(just went kinda light here)
Pronate/supinate 3 sets to failure

Ulnar deviation
Radial deviation

Today will be upper body, 2 sessions worth

--

Today will be upper body, 2 sessions worth
I broke a sweat reading that, goodmornings after dead lifts. How insane does ur back feel after that

yes I was the guy everyone accused of using synthol because my avi, lol. Going back and reading the comments on the pic is kind of funny. In reality, back then I did have more muscle in my upper body, but i was also 60 lbs heavier, much fatter, and lower body was pretty weak.
