Hi,i've been prescribed by a doctor (to increase sperm count) to take 2 times a day, 40mg each time of testosterone undecanoate capsules.

Will this amount cause shutdown?

Should I 'pulse' it, or just follow the doc's advice?

I'm 32 and weigh about 170 pounds.

No bloodwork has been done, and this was prescribed by my wife's gynaecologist. I don't live in the US, btw. Any help is appreciated. :)

Interesting he would prescribe this. Either way, talk with him about the idea of this "shutting you down" theory. We aren't doctors here so the best person to ask would be him.

Once you've done that let keep us informed on his new advice, I'm very curious.

you have been prescribed Andriol by the sounds of things.

i have been prescribed Nebido which is the same in an injectable form.

Ive been on this for about 4 years so from what you say my sperm count should be sky high but from information i have read this is not the case.

The supplementation of testosterone causes a condition called Azoospermia

The administration of exogenous testosterone as a means of male contraception is under study.36 In these men, azoospermia usually results within approximately 10 weeks of beginning therapy. Rebound of the sperm count to baseline levels occurs within six to 18 months of cessation, and subsequent fertility has been demonstrated.37

see http://www.duj.com/Article/Hellstrom2/Hellstrom2.html

This is why studies are being carried out on the use of supplementing testosterone as a male contraceptive

Actually it is pretty prevalent where i live for the wife's gyna, or whomever the wife is seeing for her reproductive disorders (issues) to do this.

My wife had some surgery to correct an issue dealing with reproductive system and the doctor whom specializes in preserving the reproductive system wanted to test my sperm count. I asked why and she replied that if my count is to low then she would prescribe me something which would help to raise my sperm count. Currently she is trying to get pregnant but must do it through in-vitro.

I have no idea why I cannot remember what those doctors are called that operate specifically on the reproductive organs...jezzus...must be that half a rum cake I ate yesterday...

Though, I am not sure why the doctor prescribed that CERTAIN drug, however, it happens regular around here. And, it happens with regular success.

- yeah , i do lift weights, but i make slow to zero gains
- suspect that i have hypogonadism --> very little armpit hair. That may explain the low sperm quality too.
- I did ask the doctor if this might reduce my body's own production of testosterone, but she say it shouldn't. But I am somewhat sceptical about this, i googled and got this:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/low-sperm-count/DS01049/DSECTION=treatments-and-drugs

"Hormone replacement. If the hypothalamus or pituitary glands in your brain aren't producing normal hormone levels, your doctor may recommend hormone treatment (gonadotropin injections). In some cases, it can take up to a year of regular injections to achieve normal fertility."

- is 80 mg of testosterone a day too little to cause any shutdown? Anybody dosed at this level before?

This study actually shows that Andriol and Nolvadex increased sperm prodction. I don't have any noladex. What supp could possibly take its place? ATD?

Thanks for the help so far, keep 'em coming. Haha! :)

These caps are the worst form of TRT you can get, and TRT is not for increasing sperm count if anything it will lower it by suppressing FSH.

You should be taking HCG or if serious HMG(way more effective, way more expensive).

Andriol which is what your being prescribed has poor absorption and a high conversion rate to DHT. btw they must be taken with food, they need dietry fat for absorption.

And btw no it wont shut you down even on 8 a day although you should be more worried about gyno.

why is there no danger of shutdown? Because of the poor absortion, or the low dose? :) Thanks for the tip on taking with dietary fat.

Uh bro - it's been a long, long time since I've looked into it but I would think any sort of testosterone supplementation will reduce your indigenous production.

Any studies on Andriol with blook work?

if its poorly absorb then surely the conversion rate to dht wont be so high

Transdermals arnt as absorbed as shots and they convert more, its what % converts not the end amount.

Dosage is: shots 100mg / 7
TD: 50mg each day
Andriol: 80-160mg per day.

I am surprised Andriol is prescribed so freely, although specialists wont normally prescribe it because they know of the uneven levels it gives, pretty much in terms of quality andriol is to TD what TD is to shots. I would imagine some people could use a syringe to take out the 40mg from each cap and jab it IM, and this is the sorta thing that should be turning doctors off from prescribing it. For example here in Australia Sustanon is prescribed over Primoteston because Primo is much more popular on the black market.

They wont shut you down because the dose is too small, from my own experience not even TD fully shut you down either, I imagine its not only due to the dose but also because it is pulsed TRT unlike shots.

I would think when people end up with lower T levels on TRT, they typically are not shutdown completely but have enough E2 and DHT to cause too much suppression, causing the sum of there own production + the exogenous T to be less than what they started off with.

My advice is to see a male fertility doctor not a gyno, I think urologists cover that area, and get on real fertility treatment not TRT.
