Do any of you guys use viagra?

I think it's weird that I still use viagra even while on trt shot of 200mg a week. I only take the viagra when my girlfriend comes over to assure strong erections. I am 38 and I have been with her for about 8 years now. I am curious what you guys think. Is my trt not enough sometimes for strong and long erections or is it normal to supplement with viagra? I appreciate any advice or thoughts.

Your ED isn't caused by low test - in fact, most men's ED isn't the result of low test.

All kinds of things can do it.

Haven't we already discussed with you the downsides of using that much test, with one of them being high e2 and low libido? You don't seem to be doing well based on your posts, yet you are looking for things other than lowering your doses.

I'm on TRT and I use it just to be safe... but dude, you should look into this:

If you've ever had issues with ED in the past, chances are, you've built up some performance anxiety around it. That's the main killer for me, when I'm with someone new. Usually some sort of anxiety type med takes care of that. I've been suggested buspar as it's non-habit forming and not a narcotic like ativan and the like.

Your right kisaj I know I should lower my dose to 100 mg a week. I am going in for lab work on Thursday and will be dropping dose to 100 mg a week. I was just waiting for that lab before I dropped down the dose and was curious about the viagra. I also believe like the later post it could be anxiety cause my girlfriend is insatiable when it comes to sex and if I'm not in the mood she freaks out. Thank you guys for the awesome replies and kisaj I am definitely listening to you sir.

I could understand the part about the insatiable lady in your life- that would give me anxiety too. Even though it is on my mind a lot, I am still almost 40 with a lot of things going on in my life that take priority over sex. Many days I come home thinking about my day at work, what I need to do around the house, the kids, life in general, etc... The thought that I would need to stop and switch gears at any point to satisfy my wife would be difficult.

It's an odd, yet reassuring feeling to know that my wife doesn't want sex all the time. LOL!

You need to have her fix all your meals, and after each meal tell her you're still hungry.

Wow you are running a load at once man. You really need to drop that dosage down fast. It's not good for you at all. This could be causing you to have ED also. I think that's why you have to supplement with viagra too. You probably wouldn't have to do it if you dropped down some. How long have you been running that? Please tell me it hasn't been 16 weeks of it. I think you need to take some time off the sauce man. You don't want problems down the road at all. There's nothing wrong with using viagra if you need it but you need to make sure that its necessary. I think the big problem with guys using it is it makes you think you "need" it to have a huge erection. It starts to play into you head mentally and it messes you up. Just make sure you are monitoring how much you are using don't over do it.

Since being on TRT I don't really have any erection problems, but I like to use Viagra or Cialis once in a while for the fun of it. On one of these I can get an erection without direct stimulation, like I did when I was younger. Before I was on TRT Viagra didn't do anything for me.

There are way too many variables that come into play to be able to give you a definitive answer. But, in short, you should be able to make gains on that dose. Hormonal balance is the key.

I am on 100 Mg a week and though I have not gained weight my wife and others say I look bigger than I did before. I am also near add strong add I ever have been and am 20 Lbs lighter since my last set of personal records that I am now matching or topping.
Since starting nearly a year ago I have not had any Ed or libido issues that prevent new from having sex thigh I do note that I have a peak about 24 hours after my weekly shot and a down ward taper over the next three days followed by an up swing leading to my next shot.
I do not think I would like 200 a week due to estrogen effects, right now I seem to be balanced ok though I need to get done more blood drawn to check estrogen as I feel it may still be a bit high.

TRT affects your composition and yeah, 100mg will definitely keep you strong and making gains. Keep in mind that 100mg probably takes you- around 1100 or so with a gradual drop. Not many people walk around with anything close to that.

100-140 or so a week puts you at the upper end of normal, like someone in their early 20s approximately. At 200, you spend most of the week with more testosterone (and so more estrogen) than normal humans have at any age.

Is the 1100 you reference a total reading? Isnt the free test the critical one?

I was assuming so but wanted to check. What is the reasoning that 200 is too high? I ask because my doc has me on 150/wk and my free is still just at the minimum. He's waiting for my next labs in 6 wks or so before making any changes, but may bump it to get my free level over the min level.

In my own experience from playing with certain test boosters and/or hormonal products over the past 10 plus years I've narrowed it down to 2 conditions... that I experience that is....which I can fix now.

1. Free test goes too high hence Luteinizing hormone (LH) goes down telling my body to slow down production of total test....but then my "damn she's got a nice ass" goes DOWN....but I can still perform and finish. Strength, confidence and alpha male go way up however!!

My Fix: Lower the dose of either supplement.

2. Test, both free and total go high but so does Prolactin and my "damn her ass rocks!!" goes up but I have trouble finishing. Strength, confidence and alpha male go way up however so does anxiety!!

My Fix: A Prolactin inhibitor. My go-to being Mucuna Prurians (L-Dopa). Others natural alternatives include B6, Maca, Vitex, Gingko Biloba.

Pretty sure there's a DHT thing floating around amongst most of these issues too. It's your friend believe it or not. But that's an area I am unfamiliar with.

In the end, by juggling dosages with your doc I'm sure you'll find a happy medium. If not PM me for more info based on personal experience.

if you are on 150 a week, and your total isn't low for some absorption reason, then continuing to raise it to raise free will just cause more issues. If your total is say at 1200 and free is at bottom of scale it means that either SHBG is really high, estrogen conversion is really high, or DHT conversion is really high (or some combination of those). If its shbg you are going to fight a constant battle of it going up and down so better to address that directly, and you certainly don't want more estrogen. DHT conversion isn't necessarily bad, but can make prostate issue worse particularly if estrogen is high too, and also speed up hair loss...

I am on 100mg/week test cyp. I am injecting 50mg twice a week. At last check my total test just prior to injection was 817. My SHBG is always high, this time 63.3 so my free test was only 120 in a range of 47-244, still in the lower half of the range. This however is my low point so I probably spend a good of my time in a pretty good range. This is up from 205 total and 22.3 free on 150mg/day compounded testosterone cream. I'm still waiting to see any significant gains in strength or size, but I have noticed a difference.

Fyi at month three of 100 Mg per week my free test was just below bottom of range just before weekly injection. At six months it was at middle if the range just prior to injection.

I have found that Stinging Nettle Root extract raises my free T. I was taking 1500mg total split 3 times per day and it put my free T way off of the charts and total T was at the top of the range (day of my next shot). Still it did not make me "feel" any better while for a lot of others it did. If you are trying to raise free T, at least try Stining Nettle Root extract. Do it for a couple of weeks and get tested. If you feel better, great! If not, I would discontinue using it. After all, the goal is to feel better and not to get the highest number possible right?

Well, at least that is my goal.

There is no reason to discontinue it even if your numbers aren't affected. It is a beneficial herb, especially as you start getting older. My dad has had great luck keeping and regenerating new hair, keeps his flow even after prostate cancer, and is good for allergies.

You are not alone. While very low T can cause impotence, few of those diagnosed with impotence and treated with PDE5 inhibitors are impotent due to low T. If one ignores the possibility that one's T was normal and that supplemental T merely downregulated natural production, then T was not low enough to be the cause. Here is some info from a couple of recent studies.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Testosterone added to sildenafil ( Viagra, Pfizer) is no better than placebo in improving erectile dysfunction (ED) or sexual satisfaction, according to a study published online November 19 in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Many men with ED also have low testosterone. ...

"The primary analysis indicated that 14-week change in EFD score after randomization...did not differ significantly between the testosterone and placebo groups (difference between mean changes, 2.2 [(confidence interval), −0.8 to 5.1]; P = 0.150)," the researchers conclude.
Secondary outcomes also did not differ between the 2 groups. Frequency of attempts at sex, vaginal penetration, ejaculation, satisfaction, and percentage of successful encounters improved to similar degrees in both groups, indicating that sildenafil was responsible for the improvements, and not testosterone supplementation. Frequency of adverse events also did not differ between the testosterone and placebo groups.
...
"The bottom line is that addition of testosterone adds to PDE5 only in men who have very low testosterone levels. The men in the current study did not have these low levels," H. Ballentine Carter, MD, professor of urology and oncology at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, told Medscape Medical News. He pointed to a study finding a similar lack of effect of supplementary testosterone in men taking tadalafil ( Cialis, Lilly) ( J Sexual Med. 2011:8:284-293). Dr. Carter was not involved in the current study.

The results of this study do not reflect my experience. Before TRT Viagra did nothing for me. After TRT I don't need Viagra, but if I use it a very small dose has a big effect. If ED is caused by some vascular disease then testosterone probably won't help, but if it is caused by low testosterone then testosterone does more good than Viagra.

for reference sake though, at total testosterone levels anywhere from 11-120 I still had fine libido and no ED issues. This was without other androgens in system. So testosterone alone isn't entirely it either, its a mix of hormones and their relative levels

Gutterpump what were some of the things you noticed at 100 mg that made you happier than when on the 200mg?
I had E2 issues at 200mg and it was harder to balance things.

At 100mg weekly, I don't need much of an AI, and erections are strong without use of PDE5 inhibitors. I find it much easier to balance things at this dose.

I've had ED issues off and on over the years, before starting TRT, which may or may not have been directly hormone influenced. I am not sure the exact cause of my own low test, but I do have a varicocele on one side - and I did have a testicular injury when I was a teenager, so this could have been the cause. Things were up n down for years, but I now find that while looking back on things, the anxiety caused by not knowing if things will work during a first encounter, has been the major contributing factor to ED when starting a new relationship. I only had these troubles when first starting things (initial encounters), so for me I think it's mainly been due to anxiety. It sucks knowing that if I had just taken a mild anxiolytic, I wouldn't have turned away as many encounters as I did. I hope this helps anyone reading in here.
