Possible Hernia?

I was wondering if someone could give some input on a possible injury. I was doing situps on the decline bench with a 45lb plate, where i like to squeeze my abs really hard on the negative portion of the lift and go down about 5 seconds. I did 15 reps, and got off the bench to walk to the water fountain. As i started walking I felt this strane feeling like my intestines descended into my pelvis. It didn't feel too painful, just really awkward. And then like after 30 seconds of standing, seemingly it felt like they popped back in. There's no bulge or anything in my abdomen. I took the next day off and havent had any pain since, so I am wondering if possibly it was just a really bad cramp? I will be going to the doc in a couple days, but am curious to know if anyone else has experienced something like this.

Sounds like hernia to me. Both mine kept popping out and i had to keep pushing them in all the time. The pain mostly occured when i couldn't push it in and tried to do anything. Even walking hurt like hell. But if it popped out you would probably be able to see it bulging out of your groin. I hope you don't have one man, good luck at your docs.

I had this same problem a little while back when I did that exercise- my secret...

Make sure you warm up the abs quite a bit. I use to do 1 warm up set for abs, not I do 3. I havent had that pain since.

If you are going to see a GP you may be wasting your time and money.

Unless you need a referral save your money and go directly to a surgeon.

A few years back I strained a muscle and my family doc felt around and thought I had a hernia, sent me to a surgeon and he dismissed it after about 15 seconds of feeling around.

When I tried to explain what my family doc felt he was like "look, who's the surgeon here, me or your doc?"

2 weeks later a friend of mine told me he went through the same thing.

Good point. I went straight to my surgeon without a referral. If your GP thinks it's hernia, his is going to send you there anyways. So morpheus is right, it would be a waist of your time and money.

Yeah, it wasn't a hernia anyways. It just turned out to be a strain. I just postponed abs, deadlifts and squats for a week, and then i was fine.

I'll toss in my two cents.

A few months ago I was doing straight barbell curls, was my last set, and I was going ballz to the wall. I was spent by rep 6 but damnit I wasn't going to sit down until I got rep 10. Anyways I got 10 reps, but on the last one I was straining so hard I strained / flexed my abs & glutes and suddenly I felt something bulge / pull, and seconds later (ok seriously get ready for this cause it is some freak ****...... u ready? ok here it is...) my cock was "sucked in" to my groin cavity  .

Yeah you heard that right, BigCasino Jr. was pulled back inside my body. Well of course I flipped the f*ck out and dropped the barbell and uttered countless obsecnities. Anyways, I went to doctor's firmly believing I had given myself an inguinal hernia (a hernia specifically in the groin region), and after being examined to told me to calm down and that I had just torn a groin muscle :wtf: . So I didn't do squats or heavy lifting for a month. That was three months ago now. Guess what, I did deadlifts the other day and Mr. Winky went on another internal adventure. He pops back out after a minute, but it scares the **** out of me everytime!! I'm going back to the Doc's as soon as I have a free day....

Yeah man...your "hide the turtle" adventure story has just given me a weird complex today....luckily it's an off day.

I can't wait to hear an update on this if you go to another doc. There has to be some theories on this bizarre occurrence.

I know it is weird just to think about, but just think about how I feel walking around like this. It doesn't really hurt, but there is a very strong tingling sensation that is downright unnerving everytime it occurs. I'll be going to another doctor this week and will keep you all posted.

On a side note, I will say that at my age I already feel like my body is falling apart lol. I've had pinched nerves (= whole hand numb for months), compressed spinal discs, high blood pressure, sinus surgery, trigger finger, ED (again, from pinched nerves), tonsil hypertrophy that blocked my airway, dislocated jaw, and now an inguinal hernia with a "hide the turtle" syndrome. I mean wtf :wtf: I am only 20 years old...
