Do you all think a doc would prescribe test to a 20 year old that has a low test level? Just curious

doctors treat medical problems. If you have a medical problem, the doctor will treat it

One of the very few reasons that a doctor might not want to prescribe it though is over fertility reasons at your age. It's possible for testosterone to cause sterility over time. There are ways around that, but it requires a more specific doctor than just a GP or urologist

If he does, without comprehensive blood testing to find out why you are low T, he is a quack. You need to rule out any health issues that may be causing the low T before starting TRT.

I highly doubt even if you do have low t that they will. Probly try many other things first.

Well, mine did it at my 18 and after 12years on TRT I struggled to have a child. Now that I know more I dont have access to the labs of that period, in order to evaluate whether he did well or screwed me. Although I strongly believe the 2nd

Unless he did extensive testing ruling out all underlying issues and exhausting every other possible alternative, its the (2nd).

It's depends on the doctor man. There are doctor feel goods out there that will prescribe you anything you ask for

Hey EasyEJL, how would you suggest bringing it up to the doctor, do you initially just make an appointment for fatigue and depression etc etc., then mention that you think it might be due to a hormonal reason? What I'm asking is how would one ask it in a manner that the doctor wont just shrug it off, but actually offer at least a free testoster. test or something. And I actually have taken bupropion before. better than ssri's but not amazing for me. Effexor and snri's are meh at best.

be direct. give him your symptoms and tell him you think it's low T, and would like to be tested for it. If your symptoms match, your insurance should cover it and the doctor won't care. If you've previously been on SSRIs then low T is a possible side of those as well

ya know, I think it would make more sense for doctors to prescribe only bupropion, or NDRI's that work on dopamine, or test for hormonal reasons before they start throwing out scripts for drugs that more often than not, lower testosterone, which in turn leads to more depression. got off venlafaxine as soon as I learned they were associated with low test levels. Wouldn't it at least make sense for doctors to try something more conservative first, like b12 injections. Then if the depression doesn't resolve, go do further tests? they make people jump through hoops and don't give anyone any answers. I think doctors in general don't like to be given suggestions and assume most patient is your average joe that doesn't even know what SSRI's, or TSH or t3 levels are, and I'm sure most people probably don't, but they SHOULD. medical information like this should be common knowledge for patients, but having patients that don't understand anything about health tend to ask basic questions and doctors close their ears to anything the patient asks and brush it aside. People need to be more educated. I mean when I hear people discussing medical things I think ' wow I thought I didn't know anything but this person doesn't even know that you can't take X together with X because they interfere with each other." kinda thing

He did sh1t man, even when I forgot to inject (once a month were the directions good lord) for a couple of months and told him I was still horny and had erections he said continue with the protocol. Was so naive and stupid at that time

True, man. Thats why I go mad when I see people talk about going TRT and use AAS like its taking candies and no harm done. That decision of him cripled me until I was brave enough to take my life in my hands. And still, the damage he did cant be undone.

I know i had brought it up at my physical this year, and my doctor basically showed me the computer screen and asked what tests i wanted to have done above the standard for the physical. i said i wanted to test my T due to being @ 300 at age 23, he said that it may not be covered due to the nature of the appt, but was more than willing to order it. like previously suggested, just be honest and straight forward with them and ask for what you want done, and be prepared for your reasoning. at a follow up appt, i requested additional testing, he felt like it was out of his scope, so he has referred me to an endocrinologist. So if your doc doesnt want to order the labs for you, ask for a referral to a specialist.

There are a couple of great sites that have tons of information on TRT you guys may want to look at: Excelmale and PeakTestosterone dot com. For $65 you can get bloodwork that has CBC, CMP, LH, FSH, E2 and TT from privatemdlabs dot com.

I went on at 20, BUT I had three test over the course of a year and they all came back low. I still to this day feel like I jumped the gun. My sleep wasn't good and my diet was ****, evaluate every aspect of your life that could affect testosterone and try to change it before you make this life long decision.

Might not be to late to fix it
I agree. Part of me wants to get off of it and the other wants to just cruise and blast. I hate being dependent on medicine, but love how it makes me feel lol

You can definitely try to come off, in sure there's protocols you can try. Remember some of these body builders do grams upon grams of gear a week for long stretches and some are able to jump back. Some never. It's worth trying if you want to

Yea I think at my age I truly have a fighting chance of coming off. I just don't know if that's what I want, but I do know that I wish I would've done EVERYTHING possible before jumping on trt. That's mainly what I wanted this guy to realize.

Just a crazy idea, do you self inject? Get some clomid and try a clomid restart on your own. In the mean time you can stockpile your test. If the restart works you can have constant legal supply of test and cycle on and off. Once again this is just a crazy idea of mine and I am by no way telling you to do this. But it would be pretty awesome if it worked!

Yea I do self inject and I have thought about it. I recently bought hcg with the intent to get my LH and stuff flowing again and working my way into pct, but just haven't really wanted to go through with it; Thinking about a 12 week deca cycle and upping the test.
