Best weight gainer on the market?

I used N Large 2 back in the day when I was first starting out. It actually worked pretty well, but I think if I had kept using it it would have eventually made me fat. I started out underweight, so it helped me, but I know a lot of people feel it has too much sugar. I usually make my own weight gainer shakes when bulking, but if you are gonna buy one I suggest Cytogainer. Cookies and Cream is bomb!
If I want to have a home made weight gainer I do this: 2 cups 1% milk, 2 cups oatmeals, 1 scoop whey protein, 1 table spoon peanut butter, 1 tiny container frozen yogurt. Yum yum eat em' up!

2 cups milk
1 scoop choc protein powder
1/2 cup oat powder (grind it in a coffee grinder)
2tbl all natural peanut butter
1tbl flax powder
1tbl coconut oil
it breaks down to
cut out the coconut oil if you dont want that much fat but I like it for mct's to burn for energy, you can substute any kind of oil (olive, almond etc.) or just cut it out to get rid of 14g of fat. 12g of the saturated.

I have a hard time considering weight gainers as part of a diet. I can see myself drinking one if I really needed to.
Something like the above is a good idea..

Cytogainer by Cytosport because it only has 5g of sugar. N Large 2 has 28g of sugar.

only 5g sugar right but here is what is in their add: "Carbs are complex maltodextrins from corn hybrids ". And it has 84gr of maltodextrins per serving or 56% malto. Nlarge has 89g of carbo per serving for a total of 59%. Basically the are both the same in term of malto. That is a lot of malto. This is not because they list only 5g of sugar that it's not gonna be fattening.

Prolab Lean Mass Matrix is not a 'gainer' but is very nice. 1 pack with 16oz of milk is around 550 cals and it tastes very good. Try Cinimon Oatmeal flavor. The profile is also impressive with mostly grains and whey.
Best protein product on the market currently.

I use muscle juice 2544. I get 10 pounds for 50$ canadian . It has 10 grams of gluatmine per serving, 71 grams of protein ,196 grams of carbs, 27 grams of fat, and 1300 calories per serving.

im really digging the MHP UP YOUR MASS......1.5 grams of sugar.....carbs are from barley , oats and such.......doesnt taste that bad ......use it when i cant get to my food on tiime .....

I like how "On Mass" tastes with 1 scoop, 1/2 water and 1/2 milk. It tastes good enough to choke down twice a day.

Try any weight gainer that containes a good amount of dextrose and mix one ounce of safflower oil and 20 grams glutamine, 15 grams of BCAA's, r-AlA 200-400mg, and quality digestive enzymes caps. You might also want to include lecithin granules in that mix, especially if you have a history of high cholestrol. Also, I love sublingual b-12 complex since b-12 has poor bioavialability when ingested. Try this in the morning w/ a quality multi-vit. thats for active lifestyle and an hour after your post workout prot/creatine/arginine shake assuming your diet consists of quality whole foods like complex carbs, diary, meats consisting of lean cuts, and last but not least EFA's .
Every individual responds differently to a particular diet so always be consistent w/ a current diet and jot down every single change including what you ate, how well your intensity was at the gym, moods, and of course body composition. Hint never rely on the scale for any progress use the mirror.

1 TB peanut butter
1/2 cup of oats
Personally, I think BioPro is the best protein out there. 2 scoops has 36 grams of protein and 12 grams of glutamine.

Agreed. I was sooooooo disappointed in the Cookies and Cream RTD it wasn't even funny.
I just went through a jug in like a week. I'm addicted to that stuff! (Cookies and cream, that is.)

I don't buy their stuff about the fat in MM.
It's fat - but most of it is good fat. Just take it into account when figuring your daily caloric intake.
And I wouldn't recommend it around workout time if you are worried about fat gain.

NEWSFLASH: Maltodextrin is technically not a sugar, but it acts just like one. It's a high GI carb and it's great at spiking insulin levels.

I think 99% of the weight gainers on the market are crap, nothing more than a sure fire way to put on boatloads of water and fat weight and small amounts of muscle. I've though about this and next time I bulk i'll probably just use double servings of Prolabs Lean Mass Matrix, that way i'm getting 100% quality ingredients. The only gainer i tried was Mammoth 2500 by Interactive, it tasted good and gave me tons of energy but i put on stupid amounts of fat. It's not worth it. Nutrabolics Isogainer looks good as does MHP's up your mass, they have the right idea.

Danny - read the nutrition forum or search for low GI post workout.
Dex/malto for post-WO is not optimal.
Unless you want a higher propenesity for body fat storage with your shake....

Like the others said, it's not really optimal. BUT, if you're going to have a low fat, high GI weight gainer, PWO is probably the best time. Either that or split it up so you drink a little at a time all day, thus avoiding the big insulin spike.Originally Posted by dannyboy9
