Ok, probably not 40", at least not now. When I was around 185-195 in college, though, I bet I had a 36" vertical or so. I could always 2 hand dunk a basketball.

I've always been able to dunk as well at slightly over 6 feet. I always thought my vertical was probably close to 36", but when I measured it over and over it was always 31". I think a lot of basketball players that claim to have 48" verticals are full of sh*t. If this were the case, the guys that are 6'8" with long arms would be able to easily hang on the top of the backboard. Anyways you very well may have a 36" vertical, but don't be surprised if it is in fact a good amount less. Also depends on how it's tested. A true vertical is standing and then bending the knees and jumping. If a drop step is allowed that should add some inches. This makes me want to go see if I can still dunk. Weighing 230-235 it won't be easy. I probably weighed 170 back when I was playing basketball.

The having no calves helps. I too am calfless, as are most high flyers. Your boy who can deadlift a lot and has peg legs might be able to soar? Did you jump better off one or two feet. When I was really light, and first was able to dunk it was off 1 foot, but later once I got a little stronger, I was much better off of two. Plus, it's so hard to dunk off of one foot in a game, but a drop step and off of two is not a problem.
