Testosterone and ED Issues

I hope that someone out there can help me with my issues and current challenges that I have been facing. I was diagnosed with low testosterone a while back and have been on TRT now for a while. My levels at the beginning for total testosterone were in the 200 range and I was 38 at the time.

My doctor started me on Androgel and I took that for a while and my levels increased to the 510 area. When I had my blood work done after one year my levels dropped to 190???

I became frustrated with this and pursued Testosterone Cypriote shots. My initial dose started a 160 per week and increased to 190. The problem with the shots were that they were causing ED. The doctor claimed it was my estrogen and started me with Arimidex. THis helped a little bit but they could never get the levels balanced. This went on for a year.

This lead up to a period where I could not even get a erection with Viagra. Then I freaked out and went back to the doctor to have my levels tested and try Androgel again. When the blood work came back my total t was 810 and my free t was 310. The doctor thought the free t level was too high and then wanted me to see a urologist.

The bottom line is that it seems no one knows what the hell is going on and doesn't understand hormones.

Below are the levels from my most rent blood panel:

Total Testostrone 510
LH <1.0
FSH <1.0
Free Testostrone 326
SHBG 13
Prolactin 18

A urologist isnt the best guy to go to for hormones. You need to go to endo Doc. The urologist with check blood flow, and physical issues that have to do with ED. They do look at test and some other stuff, but an endo can help better. Sounds like you may have more than one issue. Also, that low dose of test shouldnt have issues with Estrogen

Bingo Det you nailed it on the head. Check for blood flow to the penile area via doppler penile testing. This could be a side effect of diabetes or another hidden cardiovascular condition. In these cases I would look for systemic inflammatory markers CRP and homocysteine to rule out these issues. With ED I have also resolved issues with correcting neurology and circuitry of the brain by looking at factor why ED may be happening. Some ED issues I found in man where emotional blockade. The biggest one is cheating on wife and having internal guilt and anxiety build up from concealing it. Guess what happens mr happy is not smiling about but is ashamed. Hormones are just part of the equation, but one needs to look at what is driving the problem. Is the problem structural, psychological, biochemical, or neurological ? Had many guys who failed on Boner pills because there were much much deeper issues at hand.

So here are some updates. Been on Androgel now for 60 days and I am back to having raging hard ons during sex. Seems like I have more sensation in my penis all the time. Seems like the testosterone cypriote shut me down hard. I have lost muscle mass and seem to more bloated however and my energy is not what it has been.

Yes you did get shut down hard. I swear I should have been a doctor maybe is not too late to start..lol
I know your frustration doctors just dont understand how HRT works, period!
Only ppl who I found that they know their stuff for the most part are Ex bodybuilders or alike. Ppl who have done steroid cycles and put the work and effort in understanding what goes on have a broader understanding of the subject and I have to say ther are a few doctors there who did their homework mostly from using the stuff themselves or had patients who did.
There are a whole host of hormons one needs to watch such as: dopamine, dht , progesterone, estrogen, LH, FSH, Free test, GH, IGF. they all play a role in sex drive, sleep and recovery. If one variable is manipulated the others need to be accounted for as well.
everyone has a balance of how their sex drive operates and it could be different from other ppl. The secret is to find what balance of hormones work for you.
