Probably a stupid question but Cod Liver vs. Fish Oil

Sorry I tried a search but both "cod" and "oil" are 3 letters and won't allow that in the search making a little hard to see if this has been discussed before.

Anyway, I know the benefits of Fish Oil but is Cod Liver considered the same thing and give you the same benefits of fish oil? My guess is yes, but just want to make sure.

Cod liver oil has a large amount of vitamin A and D,regular fish oil does not. I like using cod liver oil in the winter because I don't get a lot of D from sunlight.

Ditto. Otherwise the EPA/DHA ratios are pretty similar.
