Nitrate sources? Creatine Nitrate Perhaps?

Does anyone supplement with nitrates pre-workout?

I am seeing creatine nitrate pop up a lot lately. A few places sell the powder.

Anyone try it out.

I know the Thermolife guy has a monopoly on a lot of nitrate compounds. Not really cost effective to buy a product for it's NO3-T.

I generally take a tablespoon of beetroot powder pre-workout, but I was reading that most powders are like 5% nitrates. So I am getting like 50mg in a big tbs. of the stuff. Not much.

Nitrates are awesome. Can be a little hard to source tho.

As you implied tho make sure to keep an eye on the total nitrate you get not just the source (as in 1g creatine nitrate isn’t the same amount of nitrate as 1g betaine nitrate etc).

I take cialis to keep my nitrogen retention high. I like that it reduces my blood pressure too. The non stop boners is an issue at times but that's what the ladies are for.

This stuff looks good. Has a lot of positive reviews.

price wise, it is a damn steal if you buy 1000 grams at once. Hmm. May have to try it after my beetroot powder is up.

It’s only 10% nitrates so you’d need several servings, but at least it is disclosed and is a ton of servings per container. I’d have to do some math to figure out the value but may be viable.

I’ve used nitrates within products before but I never tried them on their own…but I don’t chase the pump much anymore

I just add beetroot powder to my protein shakes. It's nice and cheap.

I will typically throw a scoop of noxygen by purus labs in with my pre workout product of choice. Good extra pump and vascularity when I do.

BuildFastFormula Vasoblitz or Fullblitz are great pwos if you're looking for nitrates. The nitrates take about 7-10 days to build up in system. Then the workouts are totally awesome!

FWIW Nitrates should provide some benefits immediately, but other benefits do build with time. Vasoblitz is a pretty solid formula and I do think when used Nitrates should be used daily (most of the time) and not only pre-workout, unless you workout nearly every day (which BFF recommends daily usage of Vasoblitz so that is a plus).

I don't want to flood this thread too much, but Nitrates have tons of benefits, but there are some caveats people should keep in mind for maximizing effectiveness.

I know some people worry about anti-oxidant intake around workouts (with probably good reasoning), but co-ingesting Vitamin C with Nitrates is generally a good idea (to help with potential general health in mind).

Arginine and Vinpocetine help with Nitrate tolerance so they may be warranted inclusions. The amount of tolerance, etc can be debated a bit so not always a huge deal (especially if you cycle things every so often), but this is a slight plus in regards to using Arginine Nitrate versus other sources.

Nitrates take a little while to peak in the blood stream, so ingesting it a little further from your workout than right before might make sense, or just dosing daily and then you will notice stronger effects down the road as rodefeeh mentions here is worth keeping in mind.

Finally, conversion of nitrate happens somewhat in the mouth/saliva so trying not to dose too close to brushing teeth or mouthwashing is worth keeping in mind. There was an interesting thread in the past where I believe Poison brought this to light to me, which is a pretty cool/interesting interaction we don't normally see!

Good info. I remember an article where a dentist was arguing against the harsher mouthwashes that use alcohol as a main ingredient. One of the reasons he was against them was this, that they kill off the beneficial bacteria in the mouth that are responsible for converting nitrates into nitrites. He also claimed that the harsher alcohol based mouthwashes were linked to oral cancer. The article was from over 10 years ago, so maybe the exact reasons are better understood now.

Well, I just wonder how regular old fluoride toothpaste affects this process, because fluoride does this, though maybe not to the extent of listerine, and most/all of us do it twice daily at least. I haven't found answers, either.

Interesting, a lot of the public drinking water has Fluoride added to it. Hummmmm

forget who it was but I saw a video where someone said using mouth wash makes you lose a lot of nitric oxide

It is the same concept as what is effecting Nitrate consumption/use.

Mouthwash and Nitrate Conversion

Just as a fyi I don't mean to post this as some sort of reasoning to never care about dental hygiene, just to highlight the importance of balance (as people tend to move to the extremes easily) and to possibly suggest just not brushing teeth or using mouth wash right around the time you drink your Nitrates.

As personal anecdote I brush morning and night and don't really worry about it and I use Nitrates a ton and tend to be a big proponent of them (and make plenty of gains when using).
