Hello brothers and sisters!
In early March I tore my left ACl and had it repaired on April 18th, 2008. For the last few months I have allowed myself to decondition for a multitude of reasons with the greatest being I wanted my body to be aware of where it needed to focus the healing, on my knee. I imagined if I continued to lift very heavy, I would have issues with healing the surgery area as quickly as possible. So over a 4 month period I went from super studly to quite pudgy.
I am now a good 10 weeks post-op and am recovering nicely. I dont do much barbell weights as I have already had major upper body injuries that have left one arm an inch-and-a-half shorter than the other, so heavy weights were impossible without a training partner, because I could neither lay down or get the dumbells to where I needed them!!
I took the week off post surgery so I could walk and move without too much danger. A week post surgery I started lifting again, I lifted pretty light weights with HIGH reps and LOW weights with NO breaks. Maybe 30 seconds between sets. I did this so I could get a small amount of aerobic work along with any anaerobic stuff that hopefully was going on.
I have left every workout over the last 9 weeks sweaty and somewhat satisfied. I knew I had done something to hold on to the great shape and healthy body I had worked so hard for.
I am now able to move one-by-one 75's and 80 lbs dbs to the bench where I need them. When you havent been able to move those weights, in any sense of the words; it feels great to see how strong I still am. Last week I did 75's for 4 sets of 15 reps on bench.
My core is rapidly returning to some form of abs and chistle. I am able to burn over 400 cals in less than 30 minutes on the bike, so my leg strength and endurance is picking up nicely, heLL, I even have a lil calf now.
The title of this thread isnt that I have had to suffer anything worse than any other man, but it was a hell for me. The inactivity, the boredom, and the need to exert myself physically was not in check. And I held on.... and didnt kill anyone or anything around me. Which was one of my greatest fears with my inactivity.
I owe jjohn a cycle and report on X-Factor with RPM and Drive; it will be coming. Right now I am still relying too much on the inflammatory response that X-factor kills to tell me when my knee is hurting, so I will have to put off that commitment a little longer.
Enter Epic Havoc/EPI cycle with PAL Incarnate:
I am doing an old-fashioned recomp with EPI- and Incarnate. I just finished up Recreate and had positive results with getting rid of some of my post injury chub. I am going to be adding in AP- or yellow gold depending on what I can afford.
I have all ancillaries needed and in plenty of quantity. I am paying MORE attention to my knee and dryness of joints and ligaments. I am taking between 4-8 grams of fish/ cla caps daily. I am prob at 15% BF ( really high for me) and weighing 222lbs. My goal with this recomp is to cycle between lower cals and some small periods of low carbs with high protein to lose a great part of the chub I have made. At a minimum, my protein is at 250 grams day, with my heaviest lifting days around 300 grams; coming from 5-6 meals.
This thread is about recomp and glory. Please stay tuned:
Any donations gladly accepted. Moti still puts out for supps, and it is good to be getting back. Thank you for your support.
