Bloodwork results came back. Really happy with things! Been 7.5 weeks since last draw, and this one is 14 weeks off blast. Wish LDL was even lower, but it’s come down another 14 points & back in range at 97. HDL is up from 37 to 43 now, back in range. Trigs had a great drop from 86 down to 74, liver enzymes and billirubin further down yet despite stopping TUDCA and milk thistle temporarily. Between those, my core leaning out, and fasting glucose down to 79 I know my metabolic and cardiac condition has definitely improved as liver has shed some fat undoubtedly during the intermittent fasting.

eGFR values look great as expected despite training lightly the day prior, and most importantly I saw a substantial drop in my blood viscosity without donating. Platelets went from 291 to 253, RBC from 6.29 to 5.96, HGB from 18.9 down to 17.7 and correspondingly HCG from 55.5 to 52.0. Distribution width, WBC et al look fine per usual, but the big thing is with 7 more weeks off blast and ESPECIALLY from the last month using the CPAP my blood no longer needs to be molasses to oxygenate me at night. Being that RBC takes about 60 days to decay on average, I expect the next month to possibly see some further decline yet.

Plan is to begin slowly ramping up my test daily this week, 40mg daily, to start blast next week (18 weeks out). Masteron should be coming in by Sunday.

I thought you were probably getting close to doing another blast. With your blood work looking good and as well as you’ve maintained strength, you should be primed to hit some really good numbers this next blast……PR City 😎💪

Good session last night; no shoulder pain on the back side like I was getting in previous weeks of benching, and ART guy was pleased as well today with how things have improved. Felt stronger on chin-ups and was surprised I could pull off multiple sets of 14 now! Hoping I can keep progressing that too.

Everything was feeling good this morning, did a good movement prep, deadlift was grooving well & felt strong. But for whatever reason, 2nd rep on very first set with 420 my back popped very similar to ~6 weeks ago or whenever my L4/L5 went out of alignment. Stabbing pain and I instantly dropped the bar.

Good news is my back wasn’t actually thrown out, so I am standing normally and not in a bunch of pain. Just a dull 1/10 that is a reminder something bad did happen. But the bad news is that this does mean I can’t rely on training conventional & focusing on that the way I wanted to this prep. Nothing really ‘went wrong’ today; my back just suddenly couldn’t tolerate what was asked of it - but there’s nothing obvious I did wrong like last time, and nothing in retrospect today that I should have done better.

So I will have to take a more fluid approach to this prep going forward, working around my knee and back however best I can - we will have to wait & see what kind of total I can make in the end!

Glad it doesn’t sound too serious, that would suck. Hopefully you don’t notice any pain in the next few days. It may have still been slightly injured from the previous time and you tweaked it. That was still a great workout though.💪

Thanks guys. I’m sad that things aren’t going to be as linear as I had hoped to program, and that a big conventional pull seems out the window for now, but there’s also part of me that is excited for the challenge of the unknown!

Way I figure it, what’s the alternative? Quit? Your girlfriend breaks up with you, you won’t get anywhere sitting around crying about it. Just gotta go out and get yourself a new girlfriend when you are able. And when you are hurt, there’s nothing to do but try to find a way to take a step forward, then the next, and so on.

I really want to lift, so I am going to eat my food, get my sleep, take my drugs, do my prep/rehab work, and try to lift however I can!

Sounds like you need to give the Anulus Fibrosis tissue time to settle and harden up!

Sorry to hear man, I hate that sound. Hopefully just a lil niggle and it buffs out soon. Otherwise, bench-a-mania!!!!
Yeah I need to remember that just because I’m not gaining weight doesn’t mean I can’t put up my best bench ever at this size!

Sounds like you need to give the Anulus Fibrosis tissue time to settle and harden up!
Well odd thing is last week I did 405x10 at RPE8-8.5. So I don’t know that tissue tolerance is an issue so much as my ability to maintain position under load?

^ this. You always seem to have a positive mental approach even with these situations. We can all take a page here!
Yeah I mean it sucks - I just know it could be way worse. I have things I can still do, and time to do them, so I am going to focus on that.

Sometimes you go with the flow, others you paddle upstream, but still others you just need to pivot!

Probably both right now. A torn muscle will have a fairly linear recovery profile but disc injuries are a roller coaster in my experience - lots of little flare ups along the way!

How is your spinal mobility right now?

That’s a fair supposition!

Pretty good, for me. It’s actually something I have been working on in recent time and moreso the last 6 weeks after the initial back injury.

I got a bit stiff yesterday afternoon/evening, but today I am nearly back to normal. I have no pain today and can bend down & over pretty normally.

4/27/24 -Day 30 of “The Clear” capsules
BW 248.8

Ate a lot of food yesterday, including pizza for last meal, hence the weight spike. I have had zero side effects on whatever this is. So whatever is in the works, I have been eating, sleeping, lifting, and feeling fine day in and out the last month.

I started taking 40mg testosterone daily from Tuesday through Friday. Then today, Saturday, I took 100mg Masteron Enanthate. So about 200 test & 100 mast total this week, and will ramp that more next week. So the official testing of this is over, in the sense that my androgen levels will be supraphysiological from today forward. But I did receive a second bottle (baggie ) of The Clear and will be continuing this the next 3 weeks in conjunction with the beginning of this blast.

Saw some performance increases on everything overall, big pump today.

Back has been terrible since last post - been listing a bunch to the right again now, and QL on left side aching from being stretched so constantly. Been doing hip stretches and some 400 lb reverse hypers throughout the day, standing a lot for work for spells (which hurts, but keeps me from getting sucked to the right after sitting), going on 10 min walks and doing bracing drills.

Had to skip training this morning - there was nothing safe or effective I could do, that can’t just be done at home. I wouldn’t even have been able to load my own plates or get up and down from a bench easily had I tried to.

Just letting you all know where I’m at. Been here many times: the way is rough, but I know how to sail these waters! Looking forward to benching tomorrow night in some capacity.

Modified my primary bench routine to do all the main work and 1-board volume as Floorpress, which worked out well, even staying on schedule going up 5lbs on work weights despite no leg drive. I just started bumping my gear up last week (got 200 test e & 100 mast e in last week, and 160 test & 100 mast in so far this week) and my traps and upper body already seem to be blowing up & getting stronger. I look like I’m holding more water, but my weight is not going up thankfully (diet has been pretty tight).

I have started microdosing 40mg test daily, and have done a couple shots of 100mg mast e total so far. Feeling good!

Besides my aching back lol. Lots of stretching through the day, as well as bracing drills & core work, & some walking. Did not have to use any ibuprofen today, and I was able to carefully work around my injury in the gym. I’ll see my ART guy tomorrow as well.

It’s definitely the way to go when transitioning dosages of testosterone, too, if you want to limit aromatization with minimal AI. I need none currently doing what I have so far. Once the blood levels get more stable at a dose for about month, you can break the shots up more with less consequence too.

Went to ART guy yesterday, popped my sacrum pretty good. He had me icing my back since resetting the joint that was out of place is also inflammatory, and took ibuprofen before bed to make sure inflammation was tackled. Woke up today feeling pretty good, not listing, but this little baby session still totally undid any progress I made over last 3 days.

Incredibly frustrating, both because things weren’t like this after the initial recent injury and because (big surprise) I’m now in a ton of pain & dysfunction.

So there won’t be any lower body anything for a while. Wish I wasn’t signed up for a big meet in 17 weeks, but here we are 🤷‍♂️

I'm sorry to hear that man, are you able to walk a bit to loosen things up, just baby steps? It's rare for you to complain of legit pain, at what point do you consider maybe a deeper injury/MRI etc?

I can walk, but because my hips won’t stay level it’s not beneficial the way it would be if things were operating in a balanced fashion:

IMG_9400.JPG

There without question is an injury. But in this case, a $1,200 MRI isn’t necessary to tell me that - it won’t change the solution to know specifics at all. ART doctor believes the facet joint has been overworked. Solution is always the same for fixing low back problems: remove stressors, get out of inflammation and pain, strengthen core activation, then slowly increase basal capacity over time while things heal.

Frustrating as all hell. I know im a broken record but…. Cissus megadosing for 5 days helps my inflammation more than ibuprofen
What dose do you use & how many times per day? I have some SNS caps and can incorporate them.

That very much aspirates!!! I’d suggest SNS Pea Relief but you already know.
Using twice per day, along with Elite Curcumin. They are great supplements but don’t hold a candle to this.

I have had to take ibuprofen every day lately. Probably more in a week than in the last year or two combined.

The muscular compensation is possibly worse than the injury!

Rest up mate. Don’t think about the meet, stay focused on letting your body recover. Right now all you are doing is training bad motor patterns anyway as the compensation won’t disappear while the joint is unstable.

Focus on your long term goals.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks for saying this. It’s all stuff I know, but it’s still reinforced by hearing it externally.

I was supposed to go do my upper body secondary day this morning before some family stuff soon today, but my back was fiery needles after going through all my daily core work this morning (hip stretching, curlups, bird dogs, planks, side planks, dead bugs).

I was in so much pain trying to leave the house, me and the wife decided it didn’t make sense. I will likely need some ibuprofen today at some point, which would nullify any high volume machine hypertrophy work I’d be doing. Been icing it off and on for now.

Felt passable in the evening after taking ibuprofen 8 hours prior. I was able to put my shoes on and get into the car, so I went to the gym, walked past every free weight in the place, and only did machines that had selectorized weight stacks that could be done seated & torso-supported. Wore my soft belt as well, kept volume high and only spent an hour to keep it lighter as well.

Felt much better for this, getting the low back & body temp heated up and then walking. Went to bed feeling decent decent.

Glad to see you are still getting work in with the current ailment. Most would just throw the white flag up!!!

My hips seem to be better aligned, but I seemingly lost the ability to stand without pain when I got up today. No idea what caused this sudden negative turn. Truly brutal, totally debilitating pain this morning, even after ibuprofen and icing. I had to change bathrooms to a higher toilet to be able to tolerate sitting long enough to ****, once I had drug myself up off the floor. Called my wife and asked her to leave the gym early to take our son to daycare because I couldn’t take him.

So things have calmed down some and I can take a piss by myself for the moment, but I haven’t had pain like this morning in a long time. The kind that makes a grown man howl.

damn dude, I have a tendency to downplay injuries in others and myself because we've seen so many over the decades, but this sounds pretty intense/serious... I hope it's not a bad tear or something.

**** man. You gonna get it imaged?
Not planning on it as of now, unless my ART doc ends up baffled and we need more concrete info for a more specific plan of therapy.

Right now, the plan regardless of cause is to get it to calm down, protect it so it can heal, then increase resilience over time.

I can say what I experienced this morning was undoubtedly shocking nerve pain. As of now he thinks 7 weeks ago I damaged my facet joint around L4/L5.

is it acute or do you feel it radiate quite a ways like the sciatic injuries can? When I had mine the final verdict was torn ligament, but I had countless professionals tell me it was the burst disc under my L5 (still burst), the bone spur that imaged dangerously close to my sciatic nerve (still there), etc etc. Finally it was the musculoskeletal doc and a great PT that identified torn ligament and at the end of the day, the recovery really was exactly like your game plan. as you know, I just had to heal it, force through some things (they said I had over sensitive pain receptors protecting an area that was no longer injured). RDLs, high rack pulls etc. You'll undoubtedly recover much faster than I did since it took me like a year just to figure out what the hell it was and I just sorta accidentally discovered the healing power of RDLs in my particular situation.

Man sorry you’re having to deal with this. Sounds like it was obviously more serious than originally thought. From what I’ve seen it sounds like you have a very good ART Doctor, so hopefully he can get you straightened out. Sometimes these injuries just take time to heal, but thankfully he got you back in alignment. I understand working around back, neck and joint pain. My Chiropractor, SNS, and Apex Alchemy supplements have been a lifesaver. But I know you know what to take, hopefully that inflammation will calm down.

Did not train this morning as planned.

So far today, my hips are still under me fairly normally. Last night the low level of pain remained since hips have moved into place, so sleep was rough in any possible position. BUT I haven’t taken any ibuprofen since yesterday morning and now after mobility, tissue work, icing & Cissus things do feel better than they have in days. Not good, but improving. I’m wondering if things have shifted back in place, which is why I’m experiencing more of that constant dull residual pain? Overall, that would still be moving in the right direction.

Cross your fingers 🤞

When I owned Back Mechanic by Dr. Stuart McGill, that was the gist for almost all back injuries that you aren’t going to get surgery for - and it was his professional estimation that a solid 90% of people who came to him for diagnosis were NOT good candidates for surgery. Odds are, you won’t get out of pain with a procedure, and you can certainly cause new issues and limitations, so it’s a last resort.

Furthermore, the spinal pathology MANY people exhibit who actually have no pain or reported injury ever can actually be atrocious - how your imaging looks does not inherently correlate to whether you must have pain, and decent looking imaging doesn’t mean you can’t experience very bad pain. Things heal, callus, etc. with time and bloodflow if they are given the chance and the work is done.

I added some SNS Cissus caps I still have at 4.8g daily (2x3 cap doses, a double daily dose) and that truly does seem to noticeably acutely improve things a while after dosing.

Shoutout to SkRaw for that juicy golden tidbit!
