Just wondering, I been wanting to pick one of these up as well as start using a masking program such as "hidemyass" which masks you and your computer and basically places your as a different IP in other countries through proxy's and encryption.

That being the only program I have found so far, researching more. but question being, does anyone use a private encrypted email account? If so what providers are out there that are reputable. I am trying to become as much of a ghost on the net as possible. Not for anything bad, but just because I hate eyes over my shoulder.

Just give up. Using proxies only adds one more place your information can be gathered. A lot of people in the drug scene liked hushmail, but there was a massive steroid bust where hushmail was forced to hand over a bunch of accounts and now nobody uses it anymore. The best is to use a different username and email account everywhere you publicly post information, and not have them related to you in any way.

Basically just don't do any stupid illegal stuff in the first place then you have nothing to worry about, that seems to work for me. If someone really wanted they might be able to figure out who I am. Besides being pretty darn creepy, it wouldn't really affect me in any way.

I was gona re comment about it being impossible. What I was meaning to say is not make it so blatantly easy for an average level hacker or the likes to get at.

I had my CC information stolen in 08 and purchases made(thank God it was dealt with and I was covered).

Also I know what you mean, and its not all about illegal stuff at any rate. I like freedom and privacy...though that is pretty much two things that are rare anymore.

99.999% of the time if a "hacker" "gets at" your information it's because you freely gave it to him, whether by responding to an email asking for CC details, following a link to a place where you enter your CC number that looks real but isn't, or downloading a keylogger. There's not this giant cabal of people out there just picking out random guys like you and trying to break into your email because it may have information. It's a bunch of idiot kids and tweakers making fake websites, sending spam emails, and embedding keyloggers in porn downloads.
