Stinging nettle works but for some extracts. I don't remember what you have to look for but it wasn't used much, usually some not effective form.
It's *supposed* to do a couple things male hormone related (and it definitely does a third, based on human trials - improves BPH/Urine flow).
A few of the lignans, with (-)-3,4-divanillyltetrahydrofuran being most effective
in vitro - displace DHT from SHBG. It (Full Spectrum) is also supposed to inhibit 5a-Reductase and Aromatase, indirectly leading to an increase of Testosterone. Now, if you look at that logically - What if you didn't take any Nettle at all, your SHBG held on to a little more DHT (if it works at all when swallowed), BUT you made more DHT because of more 5a-R? Seems like a wash to me. Also, ITRW (in the real world) 558 humans didn't see a Testosterone increase.
In regards to SHBG - The more I read about it, the more it seems to be another one of those "keep it in range" hormones, and not a "as low or high as possible" one. SHBG also binds Estrogen, etc... (
Sex Hormone Binding Globulin), and also seems to act like a "Reserve" depository, eventually re-releasing some of whatever it has captured at a later point.
