May sensitize the Leydig Cells which means that your testosterone booster will likely work better. Astragalus works too! Looks like you should add in melatonin in each night 1-5mg based on your age.

Abstract

Leydig cells synthesize and secrete testosterone, and are regulated by Sertoli cells. These two cell types may work together to regulate testicular androgen production. Studies have shown that Leydig cell androgen synthesis can be dramatically enhanced by Sertoli cells in the presence of melatonin, which can regulate the secretory function of Leydig and Sertoli cells. However, the molecular mechanism of melatonin-regulated Leydig cell androgen production via Sertoli cells remains unclear. Here, we found that 10-7*M melatonin increased testosterone production in co-cultured Leydig and Sertoli cells isolated from sheep. Melatonin increased the expression of stem cell factor and insulin-like growth factor-1 and decreased estrogen synthesis in Sertoli cells. Melatonin promoted insulin-like growth factor-1 and decreased estrogen content via the membrane melatonin receptor 1. It also enhanced stem cell factor expression via the retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor alpha. Addition of PD98059, a MEK inhibitor, to Sertoli cell culture demonstrated that the melatonin upregulation of insulin-like growth factor-1 and downregulation of estrogen may be through the MEK/extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathway. Together, these results suggest that melatonin may function through modulating melatonin receptor 1-regulated insulin-like growth factor-1 expression, as well as melatonin receptor 1-induced suppression of estrogen synthesis to increase androgen production in co-cultured Leydig and Sertoli cells

Since you posted this I have started dosing Melatonin 3mg almost every night during my Alphamax XT cycle. I have read in the past that some have taken a small dose Melatonin preworkout to increase HGH secretion during intense exercise.

Cultured Sheep Cells? Looooooooooooong way to "swallowed by human" :D But Melatonin is awesome anyway, no doubt.

In my experience it works for my sleep-aid for like 1 week....then I just don’t get effects falling asleep-wise until I quit for a while. It does help me stay asleep through the night id say however. I’d imagine it could potentially help testosterone considering testosterone levels seem very tied to sleep and circadian rhythm.

I've had this issue. I've found melatonin to be best effective with a 3 to 1 cycle, i.e three nights "On" followed by one night "Off". It seems to have kept it's sleep enhancing benefits for a much longer duration this time round and it's been a good two and a half months now.

Is there any research showing Melatonin "quits working"? It's produced every night, naturally. It rises and falls the opposite of Cortisol, which spikes in the morning (assuming you are "normal" and don't have a medical problem). There may be, but I haven't come across any that I recall. Superhuman Radio had a Melatonin expert on about 2 months ago - lots of good info.

Yeah, I'd never take it preworkout. I think it's best to keep it at the timing of the body which of course is at night. I think it's one of the best things we can take daily to stop aging and a nice benefit is the potential to sensitize leydig cells.

No reason to get all exotic with it!

I don't think it quits working, I think it becomes less effective and you don't feel the benefits as much the longer you use it. As with most hormone related supplements there's a sensitization limit.

can be taken just before going to sleep, these are called PM test boosters and they improve sleep quality as well.

Here is the study that small doses of melatonin pre-workout boost post workout GH surge significantly. . The optimal dose was small. .5mg the larger doses actually suppressed the surge...is it was only shown to work on men not women....

google this number 10.1186/1550-2783-4-14

Effects of a single dose of N-Acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine (Melatonin) and resistance exercise on the growth hormone/IGF-1 axis in young males and females

In males, 5.0 mg melatonin resulted in the greatest increase in serum GH during the pre-exercise period (157% increase from baseline)
