Judging by a lack of people buying it I am guessing that a lot of people don’t realize what the 20 grams of sucralose will do. Here is what I did; I added 6 grams to distilled water to make 30ml solution in a bottle with a dropper, that’s 200mg/l sucralose. There is around 25 to 35 drops per cc (this is dependent on the dropper used). This works outs out to be 2 drops is around/a little more then the same potency as a packet of splenda (I don’t always use a whole packet so I made the solution somewhat weaker). As I using a larger dropper (the plastic ~25 drop one that is in the bottle, my glass one is ~35 drops) so it is a little more then a pack with 2 drops for my plastic. For the sack of argument here we are going to go with 30 drops a cc with 2 drops more or less a pack of splenda. That is 15 packs worth per ml of the 200mg/ml solution. That is ~75 packs of worth of splenda per gram. Given that the sucralose comes in 20gram baggies that is around 1,500 packs of splenda. (now we know why the protein powder is so sweet, Crowler said something about a gram to a pound, that is 75 packs worth per pound.) For 20 bucks. Compare that to the great value brand at wally world at 200 packs for 5 bucks. This is a deal folks and more then a little useful, for one thing you don’t have all those f***ing paper packets to deal with, some how they never make it into the trash can.

Note there is around 14mg sucralose per packet of splenda (in theory) based on sucralose being 600 time stronger then sugar and splenda’s claim of 1 pack being equal to 2 teaspoons of sugar (8.4 grams). 2 drops at 30 drops per ml come out to 13 1/3mg instead of 14. 16mg for the bigger plastic dropper for 2 drops. It was close enough for government work. It still comes out to 1,428 packs worth

I was thinking of buying this, but I usually use splenda on my whole wheat bagels with cinnamon. I think it would be near impossible to not destroy the bagel due to sweetness.

I also use splenda in my a.m. shakes (cottage cheese, egg whites, milk, olive oil/flax). Skye's solution idea might be perfect for this.

The malto/dex in splenda has been in the back of my mind for a while now, and when Crowler explained somewhere just how much of Splenda is filler (ie malto/dex), I'm beginning to think it may be a problem. How can they market it as 0 calories????

its not zero, the rules are that if its below a certain value then they get to round down.

as for putting it on your bagels are you using a nonfat butter replacement? if you are then just add it to that.

I have an order from Crowler in transit, but once I sample the proteins, I'll be placing another order. I can pick it up then :D

Thanks for detailing this out like this. it is GREAT!

So basically a packet of splenda has approx 86mgs of Maltodextrin and dextrose.

So a Splenda packet actually has about 4 calories/1g carb. Can't they use a non-caloric substance as filler????? Malto/dex is about the worst combo for someone dieting.

I take it those splenda packs are a gram then? in that case I would have thought that they would have to list the carbs but I am not sure. maybe you have to have a gram or something before you have to list it. that would be for par though, not having to list it becuae its only 986mg and not a gram.I really don't know what they put in the packets though, the 14mg is back calculated from the info from splendas website.

I JUST received my 40grams of sucralose in the mail. That flat rate envelope is a great idea Crowler. I looked in the mail and was disapointed not to see a box until I look under the rest of my mail and saw it. Pure sucralose is DAMN sweet. I was curious and dabbed my finger to taste it. Its been 30 mins and I can still taste it! I think this is going to last me a long time.:hammer:

I don't know how much actual surcralose is in the bulk bags, odds are its not much. I assume that your talking about splenda granular so no but only by a very little, it would be eaual to about lets see, a bakers bag is worth 5lb of sugar or 2268 grams of sugar with sucralose but 1/600th of that, 3.78 grams worth. divide that into 20grams and you have 5.29 bags worth. Close enough. and at $12.95 a bag that would be $68.52 instead of the 20 dollars Crowler is charging you.

My aunt buys the individual servings of Splenda, I should just make some sucralose syrum for her, she spends mad money on that crap.

Beowolf, I tried your idea. Did 2 teaspoons of splenda with a bit of cinnamon, added my 1 cup of C.C. and bran and flax. It tasted awesome, and was way faster than eating eevrything separately.

Which is roughly 3 calories... little enough for people to stop trippin' on splenda not being calorie free. lol.

Good deal on the sucralose though. I may have to do the math and give this a shot.

well actually I understand there point a little. there is about 4 calories per splenda pack, less then 5 calories and you can claim O. its about a gram of carbs but as its less then one gram (around 986mg if a pack is one gram) so its carb free. its kind of like saying a gallon of gas is $1.999, the marketing people can't bring themselves to do the obvous and round it to the nearest cent, no, they have to be petty about it.

Wow! $12.95/bag? I picked up several for $6.05/bag at Target. I still like the idea of sucralose w/o filler and supporting the BB community instead of Big Corp.

we are talking about the bakers bag here, not the small one. even www DOT locarbdiner DOT com has it for $10.50 a bag. Its the one that is equivalent to 5lb of sugar

Ok, I asked one of the guys at wally world about the price and it is now 6.95 for the big bag. It was around (according to the manager) 14 bucks at one time but two things happened: it didn't sell well and the generics started to come out. Hence the splenda people decided to stop price gouging the customers. Nice of them.

The other people haven't caught on to this fact yet and are still selling it at the higher prices. Shows how well I keep up with things. At any rate Cowler still beats it hands down at 20 dollars vs $36.77 and you don't have the filler ether.

So - I got the HUGE box from Sam's.

It's 742 grams and was like $14.50.

How does that compare Skye?

(I don't feel like doing the math - I do enough of that at work....)

that is about 2.7 of the 275g bags. 2.7 * 6.95 = $18.77 - $14.50 = you saved $4.27 $20 dollars to Crowler gives you 5.29 bags worth of the 275 bags and would give you just about 2 of these really, really big bags. ((5.29*275)/742)=1.96 Thats 20 dollars vs 28.42 if you want it scaled to match.

Not to mention that would be a very big bag of overly fluffy powder vs a nice small bottle and dropper. Crowler should start including the bottle and droper in with the sucralose. could even mark the volume of dry powder and how much water to fill for the lazy bastards like the one above that don't like to do any math :D

I think the removal of the maltodextrin filler is the best part of this deal, despite the fact that they prices offered by Crowler work out to be much better.

Really, why would they use something as high on the GI scale in a sugar replacement product? I'd be very interested to see what the blood glucose reaction of a packet of splenda is in comparison to a similar amount of sugar (sweetness wise), and compare that to the blood glucose reaction to Crowler's sucralose.

I tend to only use Splenda in my carbohydrate based meals because of the maltodextrin, and not touch the stuff during times of the day when I'm low carbing. With the sucralose offered here I could use it anytime of the day without having to intake high GI carbohydrates.

Jesus Fatass Christ! This has to have to do with my poor cutting results. Unitl this thread, I was consuming 1/3 to 1/2 CUP of Splenda daily (2 gallons of kool-aid).

Well, thats all behind me, 60g of sucralose coming from crowler tomorrow!

My body surely will thank me for the transition from sugar twin to splenda to sucralose.

Yeah but when you throw in shipping your over 28 bucks..Plus you have to figure out how to measure this stuff out vs using it right out of the bag. But not consuming all that malto is intriguing too..

I wouldn't mind trying Crowler's deal but I don't know how if I want to mess with measuring it out. I do that with too many things now..Throw in the dropper and measurements and I'm sold..:)

If you have your own digital scale it'd be ridiculously easy to make your own solutions. But I hear you on the convenience of pre-mixed dropper bottles, that'll likely increase sales a ton.

Ok, so I'm so pissed about this I've reading info all day. From this I've gleaned that table sugar=68GI and maltodex=137GI. What I have not assertained is 1) what consuming 1/2cup of spenda ED was doing to me and 2) how maltodex is considered "calorie free" for splenda purposes but have a GI twice that of sugar.

They get away with the calorie free crap because they are allowed to round down when the total gram value of carbohydrates is less than 1. It's something like 0.95 grams maltodextrin per gram of the stuff, so they round it down to 0 calories as a result. Shady at best, downright dishonest and borderline false labelling at worst.

That half cup of maltodextrin (probably around 80 grams/300+ calories of maltodextrin) had to be having a huge negative impact on your cutting attempt no doubt.

Yikes, you almost might as well just use sugar when you're getting up into that range of splenda use. It'd be a helluva lot cheaper and the splenda really saves you nothing in the glycemic load.

Are you saying the Sucralose I sell would be over $28? If so not sure where you get shipping is $8?

Shipping is FREE on the sucralose???

BTW you can just add his Sucralose to water then no need to use a scale you just use a teaspoon to measure out the liquified Sucralose

its chlorinated sugar. if you use distilled water the shelf life should be nearly indef. If you have really, really hard water certain chems might over a long peroid reduce the chorination, but that will take quite a while. There is no real danger of it spoiling ether as chlorination prevents bacteria or mold from using it.

i don't see how this is correct, 17g of sugar is WAY less than 1/3 cup. It's more like 1.5 tbsp

the GL of 1/2 cup of sugar is 65! (100g x 65GI / 100)
