I'm just wondering if anyone on here supplements with CLA. Recently I started using CLA and have been for about 4-5 months now and have not seen anything different as far as fat loss goes. Right now I'm running low and wondering if I should re-order or not. Don't have much money right now and would rather spend it on Fish Oil or protein, maybe some creapure. What are your thoughts?.

It's all diet bro. Don't depend on CLA to do all the work. Save your money and get a good protein, multi vita, fish oil, etc

I'm of the same mind as it being all diet. Definitely don't depend on CLA to do all the work. I always stick to basics but just wanted to hear about others experiences with CLA and whether they thought it was worth it or not. CLA is cheap and does have a lot of studies behind it. It has a ton of benefits, its not only for fat loss. It is also a powerful anticarcinogen and a potent anti-oxident. It can also reduce total and LDL cholesterol.

I did 2 bottles of CLA 3 or 4 years ago and didnt notice anything. Not worth the money. I wish I knew what I knew now before I bought CLA

I was going to mention all of this but it looks as though you already did it yourself... which leads me to ask... whats the point of this thread? lol

I think your good putting a few bucks a month investment into your health with CLA... same as fishoils IMO... benefits arent always going pop up and smack ya in the face... just something that over time will improve your quality of life and well worth it.

Yeah, ha, ha looks like I kind of answered my own questions. Still would like to hear some different opinions about how CLA has worked and what it has done for people. So I guess the point of thread now would be to gather opinions.

yeah. I too would like to hear some real world fat loss stories... would be awesome but I think that CLA just isnt going to have them... its just a piece of the pie that makes up the whole fat loss circle...

Never did anything for me but some people swear it's kept them leaner while bulking. I took 9 grams for 2 months like 6 years ago and if it doesn't show anything in 2 months than it's not worth the price to me.

This is interesting I actually like CLA and have been using it for a while. What dose were you all using? It is heavily dose dependent with studies showing 4 or 6 grams per day being effective. It also might depend on the production that is used to make the CLA as the studies used a particular "type". I believe all the studies used "Tonalin CLA" though I'd have to do a search to be sure of that.

Very clever with "mr. bread" had me confused for 10 seconds lol. I missed that link thanks for pointing it out and here I was only using 4 grams of CLA per day.. sigh.

A fairly recent study showed that CLA was really only effective for those who were obese or relatively untrained. I can try and dig it up if anybody is interested in it.

This sounds plausible from the studies I read showing CLA was effective I believe they all had sedentary lifestyles. I'd be interested in seeing it if you could find it.

file not available :( do you think you can write out the title of the article I have access to a lot of journal articles through my school. I can just find a different source if I look up the title.
That's weird. Try this one: http://www.am-fe.ift.org/pdfs/innovation/Clarinol_GaullierEtAl2007.pdf
And just in case: Six months supplementation with conjugated linoleic acid induces regional-specific fat mass decreases in overweight and obese, British Journal of Nutrition (2007), 97, 550–560

Im actually VERY interested in trying out the combination with Sesamin and Guarana, supposedly it increases CLA's effects in multiples... did you catch that part too;)

Im going to be making a LARGE supplement purchase come december and plan on testing all those reported dosing protocols listed in that thread and see where it takes me.... sorry its not sooner but ill def dig this up and link back so it will pop up in your subscriptions ;)

I will be very interested to hear your results taking in large amounts of CLA seems to have some good promise. Seeing as I only have been taking 4 grams per day tripling that dose may have some benefits..but is it worth the cost? That is yet to be seen.

I had a ton of liquid sesamin I just trashed a few weeks back because I wasn't taking it. It just ended up being too much of a hassle since I already take enough supplements anyway.

Cla benefits go far beyond fat loss, so the results may not be something can be actually seen.

You are correct there are more benefits besides fat loss. However fat loss should be visibly seen especially since CLA has been shown to be effective at increasing lean mass as well.
