    I am ready to take the first step in a journey towards becoming healthy again. I've been trying on and off to regain my former healthy state, but have not been accountable to myself and to my goals.

    I wanted to put myself out there to the crew here at AM, and take the community with me for the ride. I've always felt supported here and everyone has done such a great job with both collecting and disseminating information. This log should also serve as an accountability check for myself and I hope my AM Brethren kick my ass if I ever slack.

    To say I'm unhappy w/ the way I look and feel these days would be an understatement. However, I'm choosing to put my information out there regardless as a watermark in the history of my physical fitness. I'm going to use this as an opportunity to "man up" and just show where I presently am at.

    I will be using the same bodyfat scale and myotape for consistency. I realize the values are probably off, but I am just looking for some level of consistency to track progress.

    At this moment in time, my stats are as follows:

    Training Style

    I am going to be using the Tri-phase system developed by Derek Charlebois of Scivation. It is a 9 week plan, comprised of 3 mini cycles.

    Diet

    Velocity Diet Explained Here

    For the first 30 days of this log, I am going to kick start my weight loss with a 28 day modified psmf diet. This is more commonly known by the nickname "The Velocity Diet."

    On non-workout days, I will be ingesting approximately: 1400 cal.
    On workout days, I will be ingesting approximately: 1700 cal.

    For now, the diet is as follows:

    5 Shakes every day, each spaced 3 hours apart.

    wow man...how do you remember to take that list of supplements?? I take 3-4 things and constantly forget!

    My only observation is that your current planned caloric intake seems way to low for your body weight. Im not sure the specs of your diet, and I am considering the extra BCAA/EAA supplementation, but you might need to bring it a little higher. Too low cals and you might drive your immune system down.. which will open you up to a host of other obstacles in your weight loss.

    Great to see you here Dave. Believe it or not, I take a bunch of supplements at the same time, and it cuts down on the incidence of forgetting things. I do admit though, it is a laundry list of sorts.

    As for calories, being as close to 30% body fat as I am; I conferred w/ the creator of the velocity diet about what caloric scale I should use. This is what he recommended. I am going to be constantly assessing my stats every week to see how I am feeling, and if I feel "like ass", I will be sure to up the calories.

    Today was my first official day on this diet. So far, not so bad. Getting the timings down was a bit tricky, but I think with a handy pill container and a cooler for the shakes, I'll be able to make it work. I'm hella excited to begin and trying to keep my anticipation level down. Only 30 more days left to go till I see my final results!

    As far as supplements, my burps taste like raspberries. That is all.

    Thanks for stopping by Crader. Yeh, it's definitely an extreme diet, but one meant for a finite time period and with definitive results. There are also numerous psychological factors at play and an apparent reprogramming of cravings/taste buds. More than just the weight loss; what I am after is the behavioral changes. I've posted some more info/links above in my diet post.

    Additionally, I need to draw my line in the sand. It's time to go big, or go home! :-)

    As far as supplements, the Levi-R gave me some level of stimulation this morning. Overall the day was a foggy mess. Let's hope these supplements are doing their job and I'm losing some fat here :-).

    While Ive never gone 0 carb,.. i have cut my carbs significantly..
    it sucks for a few days.. but you will get used to it

    the velocity diet scares me! Theres no way I have the self control to follow a no food diet

    Today was definitely the worst day on this. I was planning just leave this week as a rest week, but deciding doing some cardio/active recovery would be a better option. I felt a million times better after running for a while.

    I felt zoned in while running. This should be attributable to the Levi-R. However, I did notice something weird. I was sweating like NO other. I took a dose of DCP/alcar/taurine before I went to the gym, so I think I've gotten to see what those DCP sweats are all about.

    Wow! That is all I can say at this point. I think I just crossed the bridge and am into a fat burning state! I feel so good today. I don't know if it's the Levi-R speaking, but no headache and no tiredness. In fact, I was dancing around today w/ plenty of energy. I don't know what's changed, and why the enhanced mood, but I'm definitely NOT complaining.

    Repeat of the DCP Sweat. I soaked through an entire t-shirt today. Tomorrow, I'm going to attempt two cardio sessions, and will be able to take a dose of Levi-R right before I run. I'll note if there is any difference.

    I just tried Lev RL myself and was very happy with it. I don't know how much of a difference it really made, but I preferred taking it right before I did my cardio as well (15-30 min).

    THOUGHTS

    Today I finally had my first healthy cheat meal. My weigh in will be tomorrow. Although my food was simple, I genuinely felt like it was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The best part about it was how full I felt. Having shakes as all your meals doesn't really lend itself toward having that feeling of satiety.

    I will have a weigh in tomorrow and see how everything has been progressing.

    I am restarting my lifting program after having this "off" week. I am really excited to kick this fast loss into high gear. The supplements should also be helping out more here. Let's see how many pounds we can take off while maintaining that LBM (IF I have any :-P)!

    Okay I admit it i'm going through a depressive eating cycle. I need to drop some weight and still maintain strength. Are you losing any fat on this diet? I might try the shake thing for a little bit.

    THOUGHTS


    So I'm officially done w/ week one. I did my weigh in Monday morning in the same conditions I did the first weight in. I've lost 4 lbs so far, and my body fat reading is 1.8% lower. I have to say, I'm happy w/ these results for having done no weight lifting and only doing cardio This week, I'm adding a weight training program back in, so I am pretty excited about the results I will see.

    My overall goals, are to lose 15-20 lbs by the end of April, so I think this was a good start. My face appears less bloated in the mirror, and the diet doesn't seem to be too hard anymore. The first 3 days were honestly hell, but now I think I've hit my stride.

    I'm excited to see what comes next...

    There is a little water retention. You can throw some B6 in for a few days to help with that.
