Dez I completely respect your opinion so I have to ask why you think it's BS. It only makes sense to me because I look at it like compared to the muscle groups/size in your back its only natural your forearms would burn out faster.

BTW don't want to come across like I'm arguing lol I just like to hear ppl's opinion on the subject
I think the forearms endurance threshold is a lot higher than that of the larger muscles.

I know the calves are, as per running literature for human biomechanics.

  2. The only time I use straps is when my grip totally fails and not until. Since I have been going this way my grip has become increasingly stronger over time.

Ha that's actually the reason I started using straps. I got tired of ripping calluses off my hands all the time. Plus the wife complains about how rough my hands get.

  5. I think I built up my calluses lifting for so long. I've never torn one or had them hurt. Sometimes the rip off......to reveal just another callus lol

Ive always used straps on rows and pulls because I was told your forearms shouldn't be able to keep up with your back muscles. Which makes sense to me. Why have your back lifts suffer because your forearms can't keep up? If I can squeeze 3 or 4 more reps out using straps wouldn't that be better than not using them?
I use straps on rep work. Shrugs, rows etc. Just don't use them on deads.

If you get your grip on par with your back your "back lifts" won't suffer.

Me personally have never missed a lift due to grip strength. Even on deads I've pulled 405 x 14 no straps.

    Chalk really does wonders.

  8. Thanks bros. like I said just curious about ppl's opinions. Speaking of deads I'm starting to think I should just give up on them lol I've always hated them, and I've spent the last month trying to work on form and I still suck at them. My form looks aweful when I record myself. I've watched so many YouTube vids and know WHAT to do I just can't make myself do it!! So frustrating! End rant lol
Sorry AB no hijack meant buddy

Got any videos? Sometimes it just takes some mental cues to help with a lift.

Ill try tonight when I get home to try to upload them to my computer. If it works ill throw it up in the fat sacks thread so I don't hijack ABs thread even more. Sorry AB!

Just depends on the goals brother! I have Versa Grips and I love them but I can grip it and rip it on singles and triples. However I tend to use the Versa's a lot to keep the callous down. My wife can't stand it when I rub on her and my hands are jacked up. I happen to love rubbing on the wife so I wear gloves and keep the callous down on my hands. I will be training more without them during the 5-3-1 run though.

Yeah I got some Liquid Chalk just recently since our gym doesn't allow chalk. Like I said I will be trying to hit some lower reps and working more without the hand protection, will just have to work on smoothing the callouses out a bit.

Yeah maybe seeing yourself lift a few reps will tell you what you are doing wrong and if not then having some of these guys with good lifts critique you will help.

For callouses you just need one of these jammies. Cuts them right off.

I'll take some Sugar Cookie Pop Tarts still tho

I will have to check, I managed to use some pitchers resin for a bit but stopped when I noticed it was leaving the sticky resin on bars after I used them.

That and the fats in it are good sources. On top of that if you are trying to carb up that stuff is the shiz for sure. It has double the carbs of regular icecream and was so creamy and rich I couldn't believe it!
