I had this surgery, periacetabular osteotomy, about 9 weeks ago. When I went in I was in OK shape, the avatar pic. was a few days before it, needless to say that has changed.

I'm starting to get back in the gym with a goal to get into grappling shape to say the least. I'm 2 belts below black in TKD and still help out with our wrestling team when I get the chance.

I'm going to update with start pic.'s one of these day.

The first wko 10/6/08:

I did a cirucuit of lifts, cable x, cable lat raise, pull/chin ups. Light weight Bench Press-10-12 rep range.

For leg curl and leg extension I did 1 set-rep around 40-50. My hamstrings slightlly cramped, but they feel great today.

Overall, I'm way out of shape, I'm still sore today 10/8/08.

I've kept a journal at the M&F board for a while under the same name.


FEEL FREE TO GIVE ME **** AT ANY TIME, I lift like a nancy :) .

Damn, man....looks to be hip/femur joint problem. I envy you trying to make it back to grappling shape, especially given the role of hips in leverage.

It's going to ba long recovery...to say the least.

I'm going to become an even worse staller on the mat now :) .

10/9/08: Time 30 minutes

Bench Press 135lb 1x10 (testing out my shoulders)

Overall...I'm out of shape, and my wko is going to be scattered like this till I get my bearings as to how much work I have to do.

Diet: PB jelly sandwich, venison stew (lunch and supper), green pepper, ON whey a few times a day, and creatine before and after wko, beta alanine before wko, and gaba / melatonin tonight. I still use a few tabs of vicodin during the day right now but the prescription is going to be running out soon, which is good and bad all at the same time :) .

I think I jumped the gun with the leg stuff above, my hamstrings are cramping...funnnnnn.

10/10/08:

My leg and quad is sore enough today from the massive leg wko yesterday (ya right) I didn't think it would be wise to go in today. I just tried to keep everything stretched out.

I had an easy WKO today. I have DOMS from body weight squats...I have a ton of work to do.

I could hardly walk today from the massive leg routine 2 days ago. Diet: WOW can I eat right now, lifting really cranks up my metabo

I ran about fifteen feet of wire, put in 2 outlets, and insulated half my garage today. I'm completely wrecked. I work at about the speed of a turtle right now.

I think it's going to do wonders for rehabing my hip and legs though, tons of stretching and up and down work.

I got in a few runs on my dirt bike also, fun stuff, till I almost crashed, I'm an idiot.

Up and down the ladder insulating again today, huge improvement in my leg strength and flexability from yesterday.

I'm going to have to count this as a WKO.

I installed a wood burning stove in my garage...it's an old fisher stove. I repainted it black, it's killer. I even followed code installing the stove pipe through my attic...almost.

When I get the rock wall up behind it I'll throw in a pic.

I've just increased my carbon footprint, so it better save me some $$$$.

Diet: Good until now...I'm going to eat a BigMac.

Rehab leg raises...I've been trying to skip them. I'm getting stronger but haven't been increasing my range of movements, like rotating my foot and leg together, or lifting my legs in diff. angles.
