Anyone personally familiar with this?
For those of you going "WTF?," supposedly, there was one overseas study (in Japan, I believe) published in 2006 that involved 40 or so obese women. Those using fucoxanthin (which is an extract of brown seedweed) lost the most weight, had increase metabolic activity, and lost substantial amounts of abdominal fat. There are a few animal studies that have been published on PubMed that support the idea that fucoxanthin exhibits its effect through UCP-1 expression in white adipose tissue.
