Carbohydrate is a protein-sparring nutrient??

  1. Carbohydrate is a protein-sparring nutrient??

Could someone please help explain what this means

    Carbohydrate is a protein-sparring nutrient????

Thanks so much!! I appreciate it

  2. Because the body would rather use carbs than protein as a fuel source. When this happens it leaves protein (actually amino acids) to be used as building blocks and not a fuel source.
