| Registered User | How to afford a high protein diet... When your on a limited income ten chicken breasts a day is not an option. Protein, it will make you or break you as a bodybuilder, it CAN be all that keeps you on the "safe" side of the overtraining line. Tryin' to shed that winter fat, anyone will tell you, drop carbs (xcept post trainin') and UP that PROTEIN. Sounds easy enough, but not if you're already tapped for cash. Everyone finds different ways to meet their daily requirements based on what they have to spend, here are my main sources. Post yours too! -skim milk (from powder, add it to shakes) $.09, 8.5g protein -Egg whites (buy bulk flats) $.75/35g protein (10 whites) -Whey protein $.60-$.85/25-30g protein per scoop -Tuna $.60, 30g protein per can -Chicken breast (boneless skinless, on sale) $1.05, 25g protein ![]() |

| Registered User | We don't have any Costcos around here, but we have Aldi and Save-A-Lot, along with Sam's Club. I don't have a membership at Sam's Club, but I go to the other two as needed. There's also Wegman's, which has some things for cheaper than Aldi and Save-A-Lot. Just knowing where to get what for the cheapest price is saving me probably around $50 a month. |

| Registered User | eggs - $0.79 for 84g protein (7g/egg) milk - $2.84 for 128g protein (8g/8oz) bulk frozen chicken breast tenderloins (less waste than frozen whole breasts) - $6.99 for 252g protein (28g/4 pieces) and definitely cottage cheese - $1.75 for 60g protein (15g/4 servings) frozen green peas (great fiber and high protein for a veggie) - $0.99 for 50g protein (5g/10 servings) You also can't go wrong with throwing in the whey conc/iso blend that All the Whey sells. It's around $30 shipped for 1760g protein (22g/80 servings). Also, these prices might be a little off for regular stores since I shop at the commissary. I would think that it would be proportionally cheap though. Last edited by goa1175 : 02-10-2005 at 05:06 PM. Reason: add frz. peas |

| Anabolic Innovations Owner Board Sponsor | I believe those are precooked specs. Once they are cooked I think we are looking at about $1.40 - $1.50 per 35 grams of protein which to me is not too good. I stick to the eggs as mentioned above you can get over twice the protein for about half the cost. Also I am lucky there is a low cost meat place near me that blows Walmart, Cosco etc away. I just can't see paying the prices they ask at Sams club, Coscos etc. You really can get away with spending about $5 a day and still get 360 grams of protein and about 4200 calories a day. |

| Bill Walsh, aka "The Genius" R.I.P. | Whey protein is also pretty cheap when you compare it to food, not something you can use to replace food with, but it does help lower the cost |
