Low carb soy pasta, check it out

Hey guys, I saw this pasta at my health food store (then looked it up online) and thought it would make a great alternative to typical wheat pasta, check it out:

http://www.lowcarboutfitters.com/dariellepasta.html

I'm not extremely fond of soy protein generally, but this looks great to me, pasta with (copied from above):
 • Effective carb count: 10 grams per serving
 • 28g of protein per serving
 • 80% more protein than regular pasta
 • 70% more fiber than regular pasta
 • 70% more iron than regular pasta
 • 20% lower calories than regular pasta

NUTRITIONAL FACTS: Serving Size 3/4 cups dry (56g), Servings per package 6, Calories 160, Calories from Fat 10, Total Fat 1g, Saturated Fat 0g, Cholesterol 0mg, Sodium 40mg, Total Carbohydrates 18g*, Dietary Fiber 8g*, Sugars 3g, Protein 28g.

Ingredients: Defatted soy flour, pasteurized egg white, rice flour, wheat gluten, isolated soy proteins.

*Net Impact Carbs = 10g. per serving.

right. ive had a similar pasta (in black package...forget the name of the brand) however, the taste was suprising decent. A bit pricey of course compared to regular whole wheat flour pasta. good to try out though. Sage

Looks good, Jesse. I will look for some of this tomorrow. Soy protein isn't quite as bioavailable as whey, but not bad, and the only protein that can be used in the making of pasta. At least if you still want it to taste like pasta.

Remember, 15 years ago, soy protein was as popular as whey is today. All the bodybuilders prior to Yates relied on soy protein as their staple powdered protein supplement. This includes Arnold, Franco, Haney, Zane and the rest. Milk and egg protein was available from a few companies like NU-Life, but it was expensive, non-instantized, and tasted awful.

Yeah, just did last night, the taste is tolerable Actually it's the texture that is odd, but you get used to it. Definitely a good alternative for pasta IMO.

Netrition also carries a few low carb items, including pastas, bread and pizza crust mixes.
