pre and post workout meals

what are your opinions on the best pre and post work out meals if you are trying to get cut some bf? i heard some kinda of fruit would be good because of the sugars that you get from them for energy purposes but post really sum whey. is there anything FOOD related wise that i could intake so i can see some better results?
