Well whey is digested the fastest no doubt. But I have read studies that whey, egg, and milk protein(not milk the drink) is the most anabolic. I will have to find it, and it will probably take a while. I take Labradas mix, the chocolate, it tastes great and it is whey, egg, and casein.

I personally use the Pro-Blend 55 from HDT. This stuff is awesome.
And, your friend is right, a quality blend protein can be taken PW or anytime for that matter.
Here is the ingredients list from the bottle:
Ingredients:
Micro Ultra Filtered Whey Protein concentrate, Egg Albumen, Calcium Caseinate, Micro Ultra Filtered Whey Protein Isolate, Ion Exchange Whey Protein Isolate, Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Isolate, Natural and Artificial Chocolate Flavorings, Acesulfame Potassium, Stevia Rebaudiana.
I feel a blend is the way to go for a longer feeding after ingestion.

So what are the upsides of cassein in your ost workout shake??
I always was under the impression whey (alone) was best.
I heard otherwise though now and would like to have some reasoning.
Like what are digestive effects if casein is taken along.
And a carb feed every 5 hours after workout... all stuff I've heard and now want some real reasoning, not just "I said so...".

Stick to whey post WO. In your post WO whle food meal 30min-1hr after your shake, throw in some skim milk and/or cottage cheese.

I use whey protein isolate and ground oatmeal for my post workout. About an hour later, I have a regular meal.
First thing in the morning, I use a blend of 50% whey protein isolate, 30% micellar casein, and 20% egg.
Before bed, I use a blend of 50% whey protein isolate and 50% micellar casein.

This is the best PW shake recipe I've found.
Carbs:
.8-1.0g/kg of bodyweight
about 50/50 mix of maltodextrin & dextrose
Protein: .4-.6g/kg of bodyweight
Hydrolyzed whey or hydro/isolate blend (hydrolyzed doesn't exactly taste the greatest, but it's quickly absorbed)
3-5g BCAAs
3-5g Glutamine
3-5g Creatine
Sip down half of this just before and during workout, diluted in 1-2 liters of water. Drink the second half right after your workout.
Although casein is good protein, it is slowly digested, so IMO it makes more sense to use it at other times of the day.

As said above, whey PW is fine, also consider that it will have an impact on insulin spike, just whey alone

I prefer a blend for post workout but I also pay close attention to pre workout so I don't feel the need for the rush of nutrients directly after a workout. My blend for post workout is 25% MI, 25% Egg, 50% WI. Mixed with oats.
