Cissus Rx Safety and Studies Concerning Ligament Repair

Just have a few questions concerning Cissus Rx

1) From the lab test, we now know the Cissus does not contain andro but it still contains sterol compounds so I'm wondering: is safe for individuals under the age of 21 years? Please don't tell me cholestrol is a steroid so it is safe because this product is being marketed as having anabolic effects on muscle, not just bone, ligaments and tendons. Furthermore, literature provided by Patrick Arnold (on AvantLabs) states the steroids are comparable to Durinabol but even he stated he was skeptical about the literature. Also Invalid Link Removed compares the hormones to Durinabol. I understand the aforementioned link, though on a herbal shop, is indeed a medical study from what would be a pay site (could be wrong). I'm especially interested to see a response from USPLabs as I cannot find any solid responses from them concerning this issue of sterol compounds present in Cissus Rx.

2) Also, I'm thinking about giving a bottle to my father due to a shoulder injury. He's skeptical about "supplements" so I want to print out a bunch of medical literature to ease his mind a bit. However, while searching through PubMed I only found 17 studies concerning Cissus Quadrangularis. The majority of these studies only investigate the effects on ulcers and fractures which is great and all but my father's condition is ligament and tendon related so I wanted to find studies pertinant to his situation. The anecdotal information available on the forums is quite positive but with my dad it will see that information as just that, anecdotal, so any links to free medical sites with scientific literature regarding the effects of Cissus on ligament and tendon repair is appreciated.

Thanks in advance. I look forward to your responses!

I can't tell you all the medical stuff you want to know but I can tell you about my personal experience.
Been taking Cissus for 6 weeks after having knee surgery. Had to have a tibial tubercle remove removed that had broken off ( I had Osgood-Schlotter as a kid)and lodged itself in my patellar tendon. Any activity and it would cause the tendon to swell to the point that I limped all the time. So they had to cut the knee open and made an incision lengthwise in the tendon to dig out what was basically a bone chip the size of a pea. I started taking Cissus a few days after the surgery. It has been about 6 weeks since my surgery and I have full range of motion and am doing my leg workouts again. My doc was so impressed he wanted to know what I was taking. I told him about it and he suspected some sort of steriod so he had a lab done. Nothing out of the normal, according to him.
I persnally attest to the stuff as a great product for those of us with tendon problems. It seems to have also gotten rid of my elbow pain I used to get when I benched.
Not sure if this helps you in anyway, I hope it does though.

I'll chime in as well. chronic shoulder pain fro injuries suffered while crabbing. After a few months of cissus pain is gone. My 63 year old father has also had a major reduction in chronic aches and pains after a few months of steady use. Its a staple for me now. the only problem is I keep running out.

Thanks for the responses.

Sean Taylor: Your doctor said he suspected steroids and then found nothing out of the ordinary so does that mean: 1) steroids were found as he had suspected and therefore was not out of the ordinary or 2) no steroids were found and this to him was ordinary.

Bering C: Does the pain return when you stop using Cissus Rx or is it actually helping in curing the problem?

Also, I searched through Google with "Cissus Quadrangularis ligament" and the only results that showed up were from bodybuilding type forums. Reading through some of these I found that USPLabs came to the conclusion themselves that ligament/tendon repair would occur due to the anabolic/androgenic properties of Cissus Quadrangularis. Does this mean that some sort of PCT should be followed when using this product as exogenous hormones are being introduced into your body?

You only need PCT when a "steroid" fools your body into stopping production of its own products.

There are a lot of steroids / sterols which don't do this.

Either way, there are quite a few papers on the matter as you saw (17 is not bad) and you'll have to take it for what it is worth.

Most telling is the reviews that you will find in the forums. People love this stuff. I have ordered it twice; I have no chronic pain, but I definitely get pumps from this stuff and I often take it as part of my recovery after tough workouts.

There is really no toxicity and no need to worry, so why not try it? There are very few supplements on the market that have as much positive feedback.

Regards,
R

Bearmeat, he was looking out for my safety and thinking I did not realize what I was taking. He found my blood tests all normal.
The word "anabolic" by definition mean:Pertaining to anabolism, the metabolic process of building tissue from simpler molecules (Invalid Link Removed).
The plant Cissus quadrangula has been used for years in Asia and India, try Googling just the plant name. Lots of good info.

Bering C: Does the pain return when you stop using Cissus Rx or is it actually helping in curing the problem,

After about a month of not taking it the pain actually the nagging discomfort I experience did start to return. I started taking it again and after 2 weeks or so the discomfort started to diminish and is once again pretty much non-existent.

In my case after my knee surgery the knee strength is still increasing and the ligament in my knee is all good.

it relieves me to read all your personal experiences w/ cissus rx.

i broke my left humerus bone 2 weeks ago & life for me really sucked from then on...losing mad muscles & getting fat in the wrong places. on top of that, typing w/ 1 hand is tiring! i literally heard my bone snap & picked up my limp arm.

question: i have some left over camphibolic, can i take it to help bone recovery even if im sitting @ home doing nothing because of my injury?

hope to hear from you all, thanx!

Not a poke or anything but let's not forget that medicine in the US has little to NO interest in something like this. It's not a drug. However, as it was pointed out, cissus has been used in India for quite a while. I'm pretty sure it was used in ayuverdic medecine.

Cissus has been shown to speed bone repair. Camph is more a cortisol blocker, from what I know. It would help to keep some weight off but you don't wanna block cortisol forever. Not sure how much blocking it does, but I am sure it does do it.
I would go with Cissus. You can make that a regular staple in your supps and all would be good.

UPSLabs, correct me if I am wrong on the Camph please.
