Cissus for the Dreaded Rotator Cuff Pain: A Log

Beowulf

Registered User
Well, I placed my order for 4 bottles of Cissus on Thursday, and I already have taken my first two doses. Bravo to Synergy for the quick service.

I will be taking Cissus for at least a month, maybe several months, in order to see if its healing properties work to alleviate the dreaded rotator cuff issues. I will be doing RC exercises about twice weekly, and I will be taking a little over 4g of Cissus per day (7caps). I know the RC is a common problem, and it can stop you dead in your tracks.

A History of My Rotator Cuff:

Chapter 1
My RC first began to hurt in approx. Feb. of 2003. I was on my first major bulk, and I was gaining weight quite well. This was the point when I first introduced dips into my routine. I was training to failure with fairly low reps when a strange cracking sound began in my shoulder. Of course, I kept pushing through it. Soon that cracking became painful, which I continued to push through. The gains kept coming and I kept getting stupider. Finally, the point came at which I could not do a barbell curl b/c my right shoulder was so sore. So I went on hiatus and lost all of my new found gains.

Chapter 2
I saved my training in time to get cut for the summer. I lifted through the summer, and made some minimal gains, but mainly I had cuts to show for my work. I started training harder and heavier by August and once again I was making real gains. Caught up in this hysteria, I allowed a friend to convince me to try a program that consisted of Full body workouts three times per week, 1 set per bodypart to absolute-hyper-failure. Among the highlights of this new training style was the time when my friend kept spotting me through the hyperfailure point. A 70LB DUMBELL FELL ON MY CHEST, IMMEDIATELY PRODUCING A KNOT OF MUSCLE THAT PROTRUDED FROM MY LOWER, INNER CHEST. I recovered fairly well from this injury, and was stupid enough to keep training in this fashion. After another workout I noticed after vomiting that yes, my shoulder was quite sore once again. Before I knew it the pain was too great to continue training. Welcome hiatus #2...

Chapter 3
I finally managed to stay healthy and make gains in the Spring of 2004. It was at this time that I learned about Internal and External Rotation, as well as the importance of rear db lateral raises. There were times when my RC pain flared up, but dedicated effort with the rear db lats and IR and ER quickly cleared things up. Not until the Fall of 2004 did the RC flare up significantly. IT was at this time that I had begun doing heavy weighted dips, working up to a 50lb dumbell for 8 reps. Before long the RC was hurting again. But I focused on the faithful training cures and stayed away from the heavy dips and I healed.

Chapter 4
In February I began a revolutionary new diet/training program called UD2.0. The program calls for 4 full body workouts per week. 2 depletion workouts, 1 tension and 1 power. As I wrapped up my 5th week of UD2.0 I realized that my RC was getting quite sore. The culprit: training chest 4xs per week. UD2.0ers beware, this is a definite potential consequence of this crazy but effective plan. I have employed the traditional recuperative techniques, and the pain is quite minimal. Unfortunately, to stave off the pain I can't bench over 185, I can't do heavy dips, and I can't do flat DB presses. This is where I stand going into the Cissus experiment. I hope the cissus will heal my RC so that I can finally start benching heavy and really work my chest as thoroughly as possible...

I hope this story has a happy ending.

Just got some Cissus in the mail yesterday. I'm hopeful for you man. I'm looking to heal my right shoulder and strengthen tendons for my upcoming SD cycle. I don't think my RC is shot but the shoulder gives me problems from time to time.

Day 2

I wasn't expecting anything today, and nothing changed. I did chest/delts/tris and once I hit 185 on flat bench it became sore. I just do very slow negatives to try to maximize the benefits while using relatively light weight. The pain is definitely still there; not too severe, but definitely annoying and it continues to stand in the way of progress.

Maybe It's just me but I took 3 grams for 2 days and my shoulder didn't feel as painful (infraspinatus area). Maybe a placebo effect. Also I haven't lifted for 3 days so that could be a factor also.

Mach.78, if you get a chance maybe you should log your results here too. Very little is known about cissus at this point so the more experience people can draw from the better.

I have heard others also say that they felt relief almost immediately, so maybe there are some kickass placebos going around or maybe it starts to work quickly. I didn't have any severe pain yesterday. It started to hurt so I worked around it. I might have to keep my benching even lower:sad:. The pain was not severe. I was able to do lat raises and skull crushers without a problem. Just the benching that gets me. I really hope this works.:box:

I will post results but I will keep them short as this is your log. I am very interested in this herb for it's properties. If anyone doesn't know much about Cissus, I urge you to do a google search on it. They have been using this herb or plant in India for many years for bone fracture recovery and tendon repair, among other things. It is reported to have anti-inflammatory properties equal to Ibprofen on a mg. to mg. comparison. Beowulf, You may want to see someone who does trigger point therapy as well as accupuncture. I have a guy in S. Florida who has helped my wife and I out greatly with his skills. He is rough but gets the deep embedded junk out. He went further into my pain threshold than I ever could have by myself. Our friend said the pain could be compared to giving birth. What did I expect, he studied in Asia.

I did chest/delts/tris today, which is always the test on my rotator cuff, and I must say I was quite pleased already. I went even lighter than I have been and been concentrating on excellent form and lots of TUT. I'm starting with Bobo next week, so I am practicing the rep ratios. There were a few times when I started to get some pain but it was really quite minimal. I've been taking 7 caps daily. I'll keep update every time I train chest etc. So far this looks promising.

I did Chest 2 days ago and noticed less pain in my right shoulder than normal, It's almost like a pinched nerve that isn't quite as pinched anymore. Interesting thing today, I did shoulders after doing my normal RC rotations, just to get everything lubed up and had some clicks where you could feel it a little, but no pain. I also noticed tiny red zits on my chest in the locker room right after my workout. I don't get zits there normally. Hmm. Increased test maybe? Yesterday I put about 3 grams of Cissus powder in a hot cup of water with stavia and drank it down. A little burning in the throat like tiny needles but nothing bad. Maybe by steeping it, I released it's goodies, I don't know. Today I just threw 3 grams in my mouth and chased it. Gonna try the tea again tomorrow. Pain wise, I think it's working.

Watching out for you Beowulf - got an RC story of my own!
3 weeks since you started, 2 since you posted...new word?

Sorry for the lack of updates. I was wrapping up my Master's and everything went to hell. I missed a week and a half of training and I forgot to take cissus almost every day.

I started training with Bobo on Sunday, and I got back on the cissus. I have to say that even though I hadn't taken it in 1.5 weeks, my shoulder was not too bad that day. It could have been better though. I have been using it all week, and I don't have any real soreness. I continue to be impressed by this product. This Sunday will be a good test. I will update then.

I have 3 more bottles of cissus, so this log could be going on for a long time:)

I too have slacked a little because of Sunfest weekend. I am back in the gym and will be updating soon. I might get another lb of this stuff for when I start my SD. Yea, I said lb. because I'm not using bottled product and I won't post where I got it because people get twitchy around here. I have experienced the effects from it whether it is placebo or not, I'm not sure, but hey it works. I will do a straight run of 3 grams a day for a week or more and keep you updated. It's hard when you have like 20 powdered products to down with coffee, but I do it, every single day. When I go on trips I carry more supps than clothes  I know Beo will appreciate this, we were tied up to two other boats in S. Florida's intercoastal waterway with a bunch of rednecks we didn't know and some really drunk guys and girls we didn't know. (That's not the good part) One of the girls was publicly riding one of the guys to em booty shakin music and the other girl will be in Hustler next month. I can say that Hustler most certainly airbrushes their women. She had pizza for a face. A WILD BOYZ weekend and I have scars to prove it. Now back to the gym. :hammer:

If anyone was standing up on the side of the boat they were instantly disposed of in the intercoastal. We had cops in boats telling us we couldn't venture on rafts away from our boat to visit other boats. My wife is egging this 21 year old redneck girl on to spank me. Three Doors Down played the next night which was awsome. I didn't get pics but I know where to buy Hustler. :whip: That redneck girl was sooo wasted, topless backflips off her boat, but nasty. Totally worth it.
