USP Labs Sponsored Strongman-Its time to cut up!

New member
Alright guys, what up. My name is Sam Cox a USP Labs sponsored strongman. This will be my journal down to 198 pounds currently at 210.

My goal is to get stronger over the next month that I do this, maybe even gain a few pounds of muscle if possible. This will be a 30 day cut only so that I can go back to the food I love! and not miss christmas dinner lol.

Anyway, USP Labs has a new fat burner coming out that I am told is out of control, for now its called OEP. I will be testing it out to see how much strength I keep while doing this cut. I will also be taking prime and anabolic pump. I chose to do this because I know exactly what these products do for me and I will be able to tell what the new one is adding to the mix.

Here are my current strength levels
Overhead press-270
Deadlift-600
Bottom Squat-635
Bench press-315

I will try and get some before pics up soon.

Sam

botton squat??

nice overheard press.

but but what about thanksgiving dinner :P

goodluck, and congrats on being sponsored by the best damn supplement company in existance i am truelly envious. who knows maybe someday i'll get to do a sponsored log for them.

Maybe a different term for Ass to Grass?

Do you raw grip 600lbs on your deads?

A bottom squat - He may be referring to a squat in which you start at the low point, exploding out of the whole. The bar would rest on pins.

Guys - Sam is the real deal. This dude is sick... Ill post some of his videos tonight...

Thanks for the kind words endy! It means a lot!

We would quite literally not be where we are today without the support of the anabolicminds.com community!

Your right borobulker, bottom squat is where the bar rests on the safety bars in the rack and you start at the bottom. And yes, the deadlifts in training are always done without straps. Gotta make sure the grip is up to par.

Only as strong as your weakest link!

So here is more about what im doing while cutting.

I will be doing three max powerlifts per week of some type be it partial pin press for the bench, max bottom squat or max rack pull just to keep the numbers up and keep the groove greased somewhat.

The rest of my training will consist of Escalating Density Training created by Charles Staley(who also happens to sponsor me). I have been testing EDT out on my arms lately and after just three workouts they have gotten bigger and stronger. Its a brutal form of training and I will only be able to handle 30 straight days of it but I am very confident that it will keep me strong and get me ripped at the same time.

Nutrition will be very simple. 3 days low carb(100 grams) one day high(300 grams). I have added more protein than usual to every meal, not really counting it but i know what I usually eat so ill just eat more.

Here was mondays workout-
Bottom position squat max-635 all raw. 10lb pr

Behind the neck jerk/lunge pr zone with 185. Dont know what I was thinking on this one lol. Only got about 9 sets but this was the closest I have ever come to throwing up while training.

Goodmorning/Standing cable crunch pr zone.

If you dont know what a pr zone is its part of EDT. For 15 minutes you use antagonistic muscle groups or one large and one small using a weight that you can do for 10 reps and you do sets of 5 back and forth reducing your reps as necessary and limiting your rest periods as much as possible. Fantastically brutal but fantastically effective.

Where can you find more information on the EDT program? Staleys site?

Yeah his site is StaleyTrainingSystems.com

Go to the articles and to the ones that Charles has written and there is a fantastic one on using EDT for fat loss that he wrote with Alwyn Cosgrove.

Sub'd!

Thanks guys. Im only 21 too so I cant wait to see what the next year holds. If you would have told me in january that I would make the progress that I have made I would not have believed you.

I have never been one to let people tell me what to expect out of my training and as far as my progress goes, I have always just expected certain things of myself and went out to find a way to achieve it. Really, when all things are firing correctly; food, training and supplementation I dont really believe there is anything that cant be achieved. People just dont know how to train anymore and therefore have become small minded.

Wise words for a young man. Im happy to see that your around my age AND around my size and pushing more weight in squat and deadlift then me. This lets me know that i still have so much room to improve and this give me that boost to push myself that much harder.

Good luck on your cut!

Those were nice vids. The dude has some outrageous core strength.

Whew. very though day. Third day of carb depletion, get to carb up tomorrow.

Max pin press-365. Happy with that, didnt think it was going up. Chose these cause the lockout is my weak point.

Dumbell bench press/Lat pulldown pr zone. Very tough. Used 100lb dumbells and 200 on the pulldown. Got an all of a sudden massive pump in my triceps at about the third set and had to really start pushing with my lats.

Preacher curl/Tricep pressdown pr zone. Tri's were fried after this. Time for some Dark Matter.

Ok, so got moved back to kansas well, a bit dehydrated though for yesterdays workout so I didnt do so well. Phil advised that I take in some extra carbs right before and during training on my low days so Ill do that and see what happens.

The new fat burner is pretty cool. I take two pils in the morning twenty minutes before breakfast. The focus is pretty intense and the energy is really great but not jittery by any means. Very linear with no crash at all and I can feel it heat up my body for about two hours after my morning dose.

Very cool. OEP is wild my friend!
Get hydrated!

Yesterdays workout was so much better. Took in about 40 extra carbs about an hour before my workout and then about 30 during and felt great the whole time.

DB bench press/Lat pulldown pr zone-used 90lbs on the db's purposefully 10lbs less than last week. I wanted to get a few more sets out of this. Felt great, could have def used the 100's again so no loss in strength.

Cable curl/Tricep pushdown pr zone- biceps actually got stronger from two weeks ago when I did this combo so that is very exciting. Ive only lost a pound so far but im only on my fourth day with OEP. I feel so much smaller being only 1 pound down it would be depressing if I let it lol.

I love doing the EDT in commercial gyms. People just stare at you for a while during your sets. It always reminds me of the shirts Staley puts out, they say 'Your workout sucks!'.

Ok so today I had noticable strength gains on the DB bench press.

95lb DB bench press/pull-up pr zone. Love this. The 95's this week were easier than last weeks 90's so I was very happy with this.

55lb Hammer curl/100lb DB ext pr zone- also very happy with this seeing as it was as easy as ever at a lighter bodyweigt and into a diet.

Everything is going well so far. Checked out my back today and its lookin more cut than its looked in a very long time.

Lost 4 pounds so far.

o something magical is happening right now. I no longer feel like im on a diet other than slight loss of size due to the glycogen not being there so much. Yesterdays workout was amazing to say the least.

365 squat/seated dumbell press pr zone- the weight on the squat was was easier than earlier this week AND IM DOWN another 2 pounds. After this went and did standing cable crunches with 90 pounds. Grabbed a deck of cards and went at it with no more than 10 second breaks. So thats 52 sets of 2-15 reps; my abs were numb afterward but they are not sore at all today.

It could be the prime kicking in but its seems so soon for that. So, the only explanation is that the OEP is kicking in in full force like I was told would happen right about 2-2.5 weeks.

I have also started spreading my OEP doses out to get all three pills a day. This seems to be helping my energy more than did two in the morning. I can tell cause I just started a warehouse job and Im on my feet all day and I never run out of steam. Cant wait to see what happens by the end of the bottle.

squat/seated dumbell press...was this a super set?

Doing an experiment for the last week or so of my diet. Going down to 50 carbs on my low days, yesterday being the first day. On my training days all 50 go down 1 hour before and during training. Had just enough energy today to finish my workout and hit some pr's.

100 lb DB bench press/Pull-up pr zone- this weight felt way better than the first time I did it which was at the very start of my diet, only had to go down to three reps this time, last time it was one.

60lb hammer curl/110lb db extension pr zone- the ext. were 10 more pounds than I have ever used so I was very pleased with this.
Also did some facepulls and hanging leg raises.

Weight down to 201 today.

Well I decided that I am halting my diet. Im ahead of where I want to be so Im very happy. Weight being down to 201 and the goal is 198, three pounds of water weight is obviously easy to lose without actually losing fat. So the next couple of days ill be losing some water so I can look good for my after pic. Ill put them up as soon as I can.

Heres todays workout, back to strength specific training-

Behind the neck jerk-6x2 with 185. Felt great. First time in a while so I figured I would take it easy the first day.
Squat- 365x35 done in sets of 3
Abs

Here is my take on OEP-

I have been on my diet for 3.5 weeks and lost 10 pounds. I have gotten stronger while on OEP during my cut which absolutely blew my mind, never thought it would happen.

The mental focus is intense for the first week and half or so. After that it didn't really wear off I think I just got used to it. I also never ran out of energy even on the days I went extremely low calorie.

I have to say that it really helped me maintain my muscle mass as well. I have never been able to diet like I just did and maintain as much mass and strength as I have while using OEP. I also want to make a note that I experienced no sleeplessness while on OEP.

Guys and gals, this is truly the thermogenic that everyone has been waiting for. Fantastic fat loss, no jitters or heart racing, and maintenance of muscle mass and strength. It certainly gets my recommendation and I'll never do a diet without it ever again.
